Night4554
I know, you can't use anything you don't have permission to use. I've already talked to ~70 people and have gotten permission. My question is this: What do I do when the person I am trying to get permission from has vanished from the face of the earth? I've searched for people that have no colleages, no e-mails, no websites, have left o "fair use" terms in their READMEs, all they have is a username and a Developer Profile on JK2Files THAT DOESN"T WORK! (this would be so much easier if it worked) Does anyone have advice in this area?
Tito
You COULD try using some search engines like Google with his name, unless it's something ordinary (I don't think it will be helpfull if he calls himself Anakin Skywalker or something like that:p)... razorace
Well, what sort of material are we talking about here?
Night4554
I can assure you that in my search for these authors I have exhausted everything legal. I have googled, I have asked friends, I even sent a snail mail letter to one guy. It's either a map, a model, or a mod. At this point I've exhausted every resource for a few people, and I'm very close for a another 10 or so people. I don't beleive I've been able to find any contact information for Kevin Coyle, or mentioneds of his Old Ben Kenobi model. (Although I was planning another couple google searches). Quigon007 and a few of his mods and one of his models. I tried his hotmail account, his cs.com e-mail, and still no replies. Haven't talked to his friends though. CybersynapTIK I haven't been able to find any contact information at ALL. Dadmad has a map, and I have a website for him, an e-mail address, and even an IRC channel, but no one is ever active on the IRC (two days+ waiting), no answers from the e-mail, and he lives in Denmark I beleive so a letter is difficult. razorace
Well, I've seen Quigon007 around here somewhere lately.....not sure where. And I think it's ok to use that material if they don't seem to be around anymore after you've exhausted all forms of contact.
