Kurgan
What method were you using to get black names? I know that if you use ^8 or ^0 it will be black, but only in profile (or you can make black chat text this way), but in game (scoreboard and leader pic) it will be white. Thus the only "tried and true" non-mod method (both before and after the 1.01 patch) is to use ^^0. ^^0 ends up making all the text black, but it also leaves a single: ^ at the start of the name. I have seen some people using solid black names (in ASE, which may or may not mean they have solid black names with no ^ in game). In Jedi Outcast it was well known that you needed mods to give the option to use all black names. In Q3 it was acknowledged that ^^0 was a bug (a cool one, but a bug nonetheless). Amidala from Chop Shop
The Chop Shop CTF and FFA servers use xMod2, which has an option for black name support (which I enabled), so the ^^ isn't necessary. Other mods like Jedi Academy Reloaded can also support black names.
