Admiral Chemix
For the past month and a half I have been working on a map known as empires. It contains 4 massive areas and several buildings within those areas. Including a japanese courtyard, medium sized japanese building designed for duels, a few smaller duel arenas, a massive cave, a massive 2 level factory complete with duel arena, a cargo bay, a secret tunnel into a teleporter chamber, a massive underwater area complete with minining complex, a small cave leading to a dock with a large castle above, inside that castle a dome, also a reactor core area, when I say massive I mean it, the player is a spec compared to the size of the map. However while this is all finished, I cannot complete the map. I do not have the resources to load GTK radiant propperly, and it's not the size of the map, it's GTK radiant itself. It takes up too many resources while just loading itself up. I seek it's completion and therefor I request that someone assist. What Needs to Be completed, by whoever chooses to finish: V Spawn points/Flag points Bot Routing Doors Caulk hull (will be explained further when someone answers the request) Moving Objects (mainly factory parts and booby traps) Lighting Skybox Weapons Placement What Is Completed: V Mapping of all areas Factory Area Prefabs Textures and application of those textures Thank u for reading, please post a response
Torchy
hit P when gtk loads and turn down texture quality and choose a texture compression. gtk should run alot better then
Admiral Chemix
It never finishes loading, it goes on for 20 minutes then gives me a low mem error.
Jedi_Vogel
You not got any spare disk space you could use as virtual memory ?
Admiral Chemix
I would have no idea how to do what u just said and I don't think I would want to use my hard drive inplace of ram. Can anyone please finish this, I don't want 1 and a half months of work to go to waste
WadeV1589
"I would have no idea how to do what u just said and I don't think I would want to use my hard drive inplace of ram" You are right now, you always are, just you can increase the minimal size of it which can help Windows out in low memory circumstances. You never told me though, has it ALWAYS been 20 minutes loading? Because you worked fine on your map before yes? So it can't have always crashed. Admiral Chemix
before I turned shading on it was 5-8 minutes loading with 1.4. It was 10 minutes loading with 1.32 with shading on.
lukeskywalker1
What are your computer specifications? If the map is that huge, and loads that sloow (unless your PC is crappy) then what makes you think it will load in with good FPS? I mean, most maps load within a few mins.... JKA will take longer to load, not to mention the FPS would be aweful!!!!!!!
Admiral Chemix
As I explained it my first post, I am not loading the map into gtk when the lack of ram error messages occur, it's when I load the gtk radiant program itself
lukeskywalker1
oh, sry, i guess i didnt read it right. Hmmm... have you tried to uninstall the new radiant, and reinstall an older version? I mean, it would have less features, but at least you might be able to map (please say you havnt answered this too!!)
Admiral Chemix
I cannot do that because using an older version would mean not being able to use the enhanced exporter (only works with 1.4) I need to export the map as solid, otheriwise people will fall through the map. Or a no shader error will apear. Also even if exportered propperly without the enhanced exporter I'm have to write a shader for ever texture used (new and old included), I used a ton of textures. WadeV1589
What he means is the latest feature of Q3Map2 to correctly meta, lightmap and solidify models. The only reason I haven't gone through how to use an older GTK and compile with a newer Q3Map2 is it's hard to explain to him (no offense but you have no idea on how compiling works). If someone wants to point him to Q3Map2Toolz and the latest version and how to copy it over so Q3Map2Toolz will use it, then it would help. lauser
Unrelated to fix this map ........but if you want BAMBOO plants for your map (which it sounds like it would fit nice) I have recently made a large PLANT_PACK MODELS for JK related games you might be interested in.
