What can a HAK file do?

I read somewhere That a Hak file can be used to import content into the game or at least something like it works for NWN.

It just seems to me that with all the mods comming out, the override folder gets really cluttered up.

I am just hoping there is a way to add content with haveing to put dozens of files in override.

Is there a way to add content to SW-KotOR in one file when the mod consists of a couple dozen?

"HAK" is just one in-name-only variant of the four ERF-formatted file types. The only difference (structurally, not in their use) is a different extension on the end and a filetype of HAK in the internal header. You can create one (or a .erf, .mod or .sav) with Kotor Tool's ERF Builder.

That is why I asked. I have tried to add my Lightsaber mods into the game contained in a .erf, .mod and .hak, but It didn't do anything when the file was placed in the KotOR folders. So is it that Kotor isn't able to reconize the files or am I just doing something wrong.

It would be great if we could just pack our mods into a single file for release.

You can somewhat pack it into a file and still be usable. Well not really usable as the usual. But if you pack it into a new module (thus, combining into one file), and put it into the modules directory, you can access whatever items, lightsabers, etc within that module.

But not access it in game, right. it is unfortunate, becuase there are quite a few god mods and when I want to test something new I have to remove them or selectively remove certain ones which is just annoying when I have to root though a hundred files or more.

anyway thanks for the info. If some knows of a way to add multiple mods into the game as a single file please let us all know.
