Danbeas
Can someone give me a tutorial on how to make a lightsaber? I have GFFEditor and KOTOR Tool. I heard these are the programs I need. I tried to make my own but when I try to use "upgrade item" it won't show up. Please help me. Also, how do I change the color?
Danbeas
Ok, I figured out how to change the name and add the crystal to the 2da file. What do I need to do to add a new color?

Didn't seem required and I don't like stealing peoples thunder. Well It just seems that what I have posted isn't enough for some people. So I figuer one more thread on how to make a lightsaber can't hurt. I'm not writing anymore on that subject and once a person can make there own completly unique lightsaber it will open the door for them to make anything else. After all To make a unique Saber Is the most complex Item to make. I thought all that was needed on the subject of making an item any new item was readily availible on the forum. So to the point If you have written a step by step on how to make a lightsaber or any type of item or better yet If you or anyone wants to write a guide on any aspect of modding KotOR, Then I would encourage you to post it. Sometimes all a person needs is a fresh perspective on a subject to understand it.

Danbeas
I just need to know what files control the lightsaber colors and how to add new colors.
T7nowhere
To change a lightsaber texture is easy useing KT(kotor tool) goto ERFs-->TexturePacks-->swpc_tex_tpa.erf-->W-->w_lsabreblue01 to w_lsabreyelo01(double click the file to bring up the image veiwer and hit the write file button. Now to Make the a saber with a new color you will need to HEX edit this is decent and free first find the model of the saber you want, goto BIFs-->items.bif--> (there are two subtrees mdl and mdx for the model to work right you will need both) so say you want a normal saber find model w_lghtsbr_001.mdl and it's counter part in mdx tree w_lghtsbr_001.mdx. Now the only file you will have to edit is the mdl, but you need the mdx there or your game will crash. open the mdl in a hex editor scoll all the way down to the botton and now start scrolling up and look for w_lsabreblue01(this is the refferance for the texture) you can change this to anything you want(your saber texture file name without the tga) just don't go outside the original field you need to find this texture 4 times fo a normal saber and short saber, but 8 times for a double bladedsaber. once you have changed all 4 texture lines hti ctrl+s close the hex editor and now change the number on the mdl and mdx to any 2 digdet number (w_lghtsbr_054.mdl and w_lghtsbr_054.mdx) now that that is done make a new saber uti(item file)and change the model var node to 54(if thats what you changed the saber to) Done
Danbeas
I got that part. I wanna know how to add a completely new color. You know, like silver, for example.
Suchan271
Quick and dirty 1st - Backup of your w_lsabreblue01.tga or whatever file you're changing. 2nd - Open it up in photoshop or whatever you're using. Photoshop 3rd - Desaturate. Desaturate 4th - Experiment with "Color Balance" to achieve the desire size/color of your beam. Color Balance 5th - Once you're happy, "Save As" in the override folder as what ever color you will be using - "w_lsabrewhit01.tga". This is a very basic method that gets the job done fast. If you have any photoshop questions let me know. Hope this helps.
