SchnaKe
Hi, I've looked everywhere and seen the tutorials but I'm still clueless on how to skin/mod heads. If someone can put in layman terms the way it should be done, it will be very appreciated. P.S. Pls list out teh tools needed too. Thanks!! JedI_XtRmIsT
ok first ur gonna need the latest version of Kotor Tool ( also called KT) and u'll need an imageing program that can read tga files photoshop is what i use but i hear paint shop pro is good aswell heres what u do: 1.) install KT, then open it up and play around with it just to get the feel of how it works and of its features 2.)once ur comfortable with KT open it up and then go to ERFs then to texturepacks the ones i use are the swpc_tex_tpa.erf 3.)the heads are list under the P catagory just double click it or click the little "+" box and it will open 4.) the file names for the heads are as follows: Asian female: PFHA01-PFHA05d3 Black Female: PFHB01-PFHB05d3 White Female: PFHC01-PFHC05d3 Asian Male: PMHA01-PMHA05d3 Black Male: PMHB01-PMHB05d3 White Male: PMHC01-PMHC05d3 note the "d" "d1" "d2" "d3" is the Darkside transitions for each head model 5.) once u find the head files double click one and it will open a image viewer showing u the texture file just click the write button and save it where ever u like hope this helps u out some i'm not that good at modding the heads but i try to help if i know how to do something
SchnaKe
Thanks a lot man! I'll go try it now EDIT: Is it possible to adjust the hair length or tweak the facial features (eyes, nose, mouth etc.) or it is limited to texturing only? EDIT EDIT: So what I do is edit the entire tpc file through an image editor?
Jackel
we can only retexture heads , bodies etc at the moment as no one has cracked the model format you need to save the tpc file as a tga , kt should do this automatically i beleieve , if not chuck the tpc2tga programe (found in the "tools and mods" sticky) in to the KT folder and then once oyu double click on a tpc file it will allow you to save it as a tga file
SchnaKe
Thanks, I manage to get it into a tga file. Ok, let's say I edit the tga file to my liking and finished with the texturing, how do i overwrite with my new texture and implement it in the game. I've seen the others' head mods contain the tga file and heads.2da and .txi files and some other misc files. I'm a little confused here...
Jackel
if you are doing a simple reskin , like this : http://img34.photobucket.com/albums/v102/ShadowFox75/kotor/goatee.jpg you can just chuck the tga file in to your Override folder without any worries , if you are making the head a new head so that you can keep the old one and have the one you worked on as anew one then you need the mdl , mdx tgas, head.2da and combine them all best bet for doing the latter , ie the new head would be to ask T7 when he gets here , ive stuck to redoing just the tga files for now , i already messed up trask http://img34.photobucket.com/albums/v102/ShadowFox75/kotor/angeltrask.jpg
