JKII Crashes

ok so i just installed JKII. when i try to enter Multiplayer, it starts by showing the little Loading Console thing (with yellow text)

 

it gets to

 

"Processor Intel Pentium IV Detected" or something and then it crashes

 

says that it needs to be closed

 

happens everytime. here is my comp specs:

3 ghz Pentium 4 HyperThreading

512 MB ddr 400

GeForce FX 5200 128mb

anything else?

I'll get the simple one out of the way first, make sure you've got the 1.04 patch installed and running. If that doesn't work then I'm out of ideas....

You might have one of the multitude of viruses, trojans and malware (spyware) floating around that cause all kinds of memory and crash problems on windows based pc's.

 

So update your virus scanner (get a couple free ones in fact, since often one won't detect everything, especially trojans) and do a full scan of your computer to make sure everything is okay.

 

Additionally, make sure DirectX is up to date and your video card drivers.

 

Other than that, I would suggest uninstall and reinstall the game and the 1.04 patch, restart and see if that helps.

Its because anything less then 1.04 doesnt support dual processors and windows XP sees a Hyperthreaded Processor as 2 different processors.

 

If you want to play 1.02 or 1.03 without updating, The fix is as follows:

 

Navigate to your JK2 directory and right click on your jk2mp.exe icon and choose properties, once in there go to the compability tab and click the "run this program in compability mode for: and change it to windows 98. Since windows 98 see's it as only one processor, this fixes your issue.
