I'm just following the tutorial.

I used the hex editor so it would point to my skins. File named: w_lsabreblue02

I inserted the tga file with that name, and the accompanying txi file, and whatever else you have to do at that point, but my saber color still wont change! It stays blue.

Look in ERF>texturepacks>swpc_tex_tpa.erf>P> then it is all the PMBI files for males and PFBI for females.

Oh and your questions are fine, but can you keep try and keep them all in one thread please.

Okay since I can't see your files we are going to start over from scratch, well just the hex editing part.

Okay extract w_lghtsbr_004.mdl and .mdx. Now open your hex editor and open up the .mdl file. You need to change the lines that say w_Lghtbsr_004 to w_Lghtsbr_0XX there should be 8 of them, XX being the modelvariation number which you have set in your .uti file. It is important to only change the w_Lghtsbr_004 hex as the w_Lghtsbr_001 refers to the hilt. Okay now change all the w_lsabreyelo01's to w_lsabreyelo02 there should be 4 of them after you have done all this save.

Now change the file name of our blade color to w_lsabreyelo02 and make sure it is a .tga, then create a new text document with the following written inside:

blending additive

decal 1

and save it as w_lsabreyelo02.txi. Now that should be it the only thing left is that you make sure that you create a custom name for your .uti and make sure that you have a custom modelvariation number for example 15 should work. Also be sure to change you .mdl and .mdx to w_lghtsbr_015.mdl adn .mdx. That should work.

Hope It Works,

Mav

you dont need one, there all in the same place:

in kotor tool look in ERFs -> TexturePacks -> swpc_tex_tpa.erf -> (select a letter)

the letters refer to the first letter of the file name, seriously!, its not hard to work out what is what. Just open a folder and double click a file, thats all.

couldnt they of just made something like the tes editor for morrowind that was so simple. :(

But Bioware does not provide any support whatsoever for modding. Everything we do we have to figure out ourselves. Fred Tetra wrote the kotor_tool independantly from Bioware, and I thank my lucky stars every day that he has done so. Modding KOTOR would be much more difficult without that.

In any event, have a look in the learning to mod sticky thread and use the links and read about topics that interest you. Once you have done that, ask specific questions about parts you don't understand. You have now already learned where to find the textures. Play around some more until you get stuck again, and then ask more questions.

Modding KOTOR is not a simple task for the most part. It will take time to learn how to do things. Be patient. You can't learn it all at once. It will come eventually :)
