Schetter
"A popular character at the event was the Jetpack Storm Trooper who can out maneuver and quickly escape enemy firepower." Great. I really hope this is curbed. Just because the jetpackers carry a rocket launcher instead of a continuous fire blaster will not balance this class out with the rest of the main ground pounders. People routinely run around with Bazookas in BF:42 on heavily infantry based maps and are able cause some real headaches. It's not that hard to start internalizing how to lead with those things and compensate for gravity over distances, and quite a few people have it mastered. With the added advantage of being able to pop sky-high at a moments notice along with the one-shot-kill power of a rocket launcher, this class is going to be pretty unstoppable in the hands of those who routinely use it. Mark my words: if they don't change this from a spawnable class to a pick-up-able pack found somewhere on the map AFTER spawn so that the numbers can be limited, this class will be the bane of public server existance. "Just like out of the movies, an Ewok trap (you know, the swinging logs) crushed my AT-ST in a single hit. I was surprised to see the Ewoks attacking us since they were supposed to be helping the rebels faction." Glad to see that the Ewoks dish it out on AT-STs regardless of who's piloting. Seriously. They are pretty stupid. However, the point should be made that once Chewie stole the AT-ST in the movie and started kickin the asses of Stormtroopers, the ewoks caught on pretty quick and started rallying around the stolen AT-ST. Might be tough to code the AI correctly for this kind of effect, but it should probably be considered. I would be pretty frustrated if I just saved a flock of ewoks from a fireteam of Stormtroopers and I get log jammed as thanks in return. "One major difference that Battlefield 1942 fans will notice is that either team has the option to pilot vehicles regardless of which faction is currently controlling the nearest control point." WRONG. All BF:42 vehicles can be hopped into by any soldier regardless of what team they're on, regardless of who controls what spawn point. This is not to say that I agree with it. UT:2004 got the vehicle 'carjacking' bit right: in that game, you can't hop into an enemy vehicle unless an enemy soldier has already been in it and 'unlocked' it. I find it pretty ridiculous in BF:42 (and I will find it ridiculous in SW:BF) that a enemy soldier can just walk up to a fresh-spawned vehicle of your team's, hop right in, and start driving like they know all the controls. fishlore
Good critique I'd say. I thought the same thing about the jetpack stormtrooper. I'm kind of worried of the potential problems it could cause. Having said that though maybe they will implement it in a good way. It will also be interesting to see how these third party NPCs effect the battle. I was skeptical at first. But now I kind of like the idea. As much as I love BF1942, I think it will be cool for this game to seperate itself using things like third party NPCs and the jetpack. There are many elements to BF I like, but I don't think we need an exact BF clone.
TK-8252
We can tell already that the Dark Trooper (jetpack Stormtrooper) is going to be much more popular than all the other classes. Go figure. In the game Dark Forces, you had to fight Dark Troopers as enemies, and they were rock-solid killing machines. No way would someone choose to be a Stormtrooper when you could be a Dark Trooper. We can see so already from the many reviews praising the Dark Trooper's power. *Sigh* Oh well, I guess that it'll be left up to the modding community to clean up the factions. First thing I'll do when Battlefront comes out is change the Dark Trooper back to the Imperial Officer - the class that never should have been taken out. Then the Pilot class wouldn't have to be the medic.

Luke'sMaster
I dunno. I think they should keep it. Maybe it will help a person enter a AT-AT:atat:
