frayedends
Exactly. I host public servers, and so do many large companies who also rent servers. This will drive sales of the client software, and expose more people to the game. The best job ever done was half-life, because in the beginning there were free server binaries which people picked up and hosted from everything from their home PC's to racks of them at datacenters. Tens of thousands of servers all running, league match play, clans, publics, privates, LAN centers, etc. This needs to happen, and soon. Server admins will need to begin testing stability of the server binaries ahead of the client release dates. Otherwise we'll have another issue like we had when Valve released "Steam" last fall. Anyone remember that?
