Evil Dark Jedi
Going gold only happens to games that sell over 10,000 or so copies or are good before release.I think.

nortenyo
Going "Gold" is indeed, when a developer submits a candidate final build of the game on disc to the publisher and it gets approved by both the publisher and either Sony, Microsoft, or Nintendo, for consoles. To recap...going "Gold" means a submitted final candidate passes quality control. Once a game has gone "gold" it goes into duplication and ships to the stores. Once THERE, then the time old tradition of selling a million copies gives the game similar sounding but different status of going "gold". The exact number is somewhat arbitrary. Virtuosis
Yeah Dark Jedi didn't you read that thread we had already agreed that the music industry gold is selling X amount of copys while the gaming industry gold is producing the final disc and being mass produced.
