Server Admins Mailing Lists -- Need to get them up soon!

This is my 2nd forum plea to Pandemic for creation of some mailing lists for us guys to have a forum with the developers.

We need this, or a forum, for communication, feedback, bug reporting, patches, and community involvement. If we are going to make a successful run at this game we need to have a listserv in place - preferrably before the game is released.

Take a cue from other development groups and developers (Alfred Reynolds @ valve, Andreas Fredriksson & Andy Berdan @ DICE) have done with the community to keep the communication lines open so everyone benefits.

Unfortunately, all of my emails to Pandemic have been ignored so far. :(

I believe devs will soon be coming here for such stuff. There is a community tab on the official site, and who know what that may inclued; forum, links to this forum, mailing list. So rest assure that what you request will be revealed soon.

EDIT: Sorry, forgot to mention that some devs are posting on this forum. Who know how many could be lurking.

They're cutting it a bit close, IMHO. I'd really like to have server binaries in my hands at least 2 weeks prior to release, although that most likely isn't going to happen.

Usually when we get them for other games, it's a few days to a week early, and we get to load em up and see how well they run with no load. Many potential conflicts and bugs are discovered in just this step, as just about everyone is using a differnt OS/kernel + hardware, so the returns for them on testing is huge. We run mapchanges, set different settings, check loads, memory usage, look for leaks, do backtraces, etc. We're able to spot problems with a certain config, then give them enough time to correct it, so we can get a stable server by the time the client is released.

The bottom line is we want Pandemic and LucasArts to have a sucessful launch, and continue to be sucessful with their game, however we can only get to that point with some interaction with the devs in a small forum.

If we have devs reading here, and I suspect we would (i would be if it were me), maybe a short reply outlining what's being considered.

I believe you have the lucasarts support forums for bug reports.

We generally don't use open forums to publish bug reports like that. Last thing we need is to publish some info on a server-crash bug/exploit on a forum read by 50,000 people.

Direct discussion with developers is essential. This forum is not the place for such things.
