I was wondering if someone could help me change the color of my custom made blaster? It was a Zabrak blaster pistol but I changed the name and description, and made it upgradeable. I wanted to make it a light purple color to match my custom armor...Ive also been searching threw some threads about planting items ingame, like puting my custom made items in the footlocker on the endor spire, but I dont understand how its done, mainly the scripting part confuse me and I was wondering if anyone could help me with this? Thanks alot.:fett:

To change the color of the blaster you will need to make a new texture for the weapon. Tutorials can be found in the stickies

To apply the new texture to the weapon, you'll most likely need to hex edit the model in order to make it work. There are basic instructions on how to do this in my Lightsaber tutorial.

Also, I created a "non-script placeable" tutorial that can be found in this forum.

All of these resources will be able to address your issues.

I hope this helps....

Well, since there aren't any unique placeables on the Endar Spire, I suspect that you used a shared placeable and that you are going to quickly begin running into the problems that I warned about in the tutorial. Your dime though...have fun :)

As for the items themselves, I believe that the contents of that footlocker are determined by starting class and therefore controlled by a script. If that is the case, then you might not have any luck deleting other items.

Regarding textures, I would recommend either Paintshop Pro or Photoshop. MS Paint is not going to be sophisticated enough for what you want to do :D

You can use MSpaint, but you will have to convert the file from tga and back again. PhotoShop is a lot easier and you can do a lot more with it that you can't do with MSpaint, ie: you won't have to convert the tga file since photoshop can access them, and you can select a certain area and adjust the color, saturation and light or darkness of the texture. All in all it's better to try to get a version of photoshop, I would suggest 6.0 or better.

I dont know if I have the brainpower or skill to color this blaster, I read your tutoriol for the lightsabre creation and I hardly understood it, so i guess if one of you guys feels like it I can send you it via e-mail and maybe you can color it for me :/ thanks for all your help.

Give it a unique modelvariation, and yes, you will need photoshop, paintshop pro, or some kind of photoediting program to alter the skin.

BTW, what's the name of the utp file for the first footlocker on the Endar Spire? (The one with yuor clothing and starting equipment)

The name of the footlocker on the endor spire is footlker001.utp, witch also happens to be the same name for the footlocker in your hideout on Taris. So I made 2 seperate files so I can switch them around to have 2 seperate sets of items apear.

Oh well that's a shame, so I can't really alter what the PC starts the game with I suppose. Curses. :D

It's a lot more places than that! :D

Look forward to changing lots of footlockers...

Seriously, if you're dead set on using that footlocker, you can do it much easier with one line of script.

What you mean by unique placeables and shared placeables?

It's not a technical term....I just made it up so that I could abbreviate it in the tutorial and people would know what I was talking about :)
