Pliskan
Yeah, you will have to use your original Gamertag. This is to stop cheats etc, that's why PS2 have so much trouble with them because they can make multiply accounts.
Vezner
How much does X-Box Live cost per year? Is it billed on a monthly basis or do you just pay a yearly fee? Also, is it worth it? I am traditionally a PC gamer but I recently realized that I was wasting my money upgrading my computer for hundreds of dollars every couple of years when I might as well buy an X-Box and have consistently good games for a lot less of an upgrade price. I plan on buying SWB on X-Box, even though my PC can handle it, and I had planned on playing mostly SP or split screen coop games. However I have started to consider X-Box live but only if the price is reasonable. Any suggestions or comments are welcome.
I<3Stormies
Vezner, it's 10000000% worth it. It's 50 dollars a year, charged yearly, which is extremely cheap. The xbox live service itself is very, very reliable, never screwed me over once. It's also near impossible to cheat on, I assume, because not once in all the XBL games I play have I seen a cheater of any kind. It's also fast and organized, you have a friends list that is used in general for XBL so you can see all your friends and what games they're playing at any time. Enough rambling... just get it. For 50 dollars a year you can't beat the enjoyment it provides.

You can still find tons of people to play with on games several years old on XBOX Live -- I imagine a high profile title like SW:BF will see a high number of players. In regards to cheating on Live -- there is cheating, but it's not as widespread as on the PC or PS2. Mostly it's done through glitching -- where a player exploits a flaw in the game to their advantage. The good thing is that developers frequently patch XBOX Live, fixing the glitches. Well, mostly fixing the glitches.

Why do they have the free two month trial offer then? [face_confused] $50 a year doesn't sound too bad. I am going to seriously think about it. I have a two month trial version that I can use so I will probably do that first and then go from there. Thanks for all of the encouragement and advise. One more quick question though, how hard is it to cancel? If you buy a year's subscription and then it ends, do they just charge you again or do you have to call them and have them renew manually? I ask this because I hate giving credit cards out and having people charge crap when I didn't give them permission to.
gonyjets
I think you just type in your new subscription code. You should seriously get it. It's tons of fun. You can talk smack to a guy you just picked off from halfway across the map. And when he starts all yellin' , jus' mute him.
singard
It's definitely worth $50! It's much better than the comparable PS2 setup, and unlike PC where you have to get XFIRE or a third party application to manage your friends lists, XBOX Live's friendslists and features are universal across all XBOX Live-enabled games. You can invite a friend currently playing Rainbow Six 3 to join you in Star Wars Battlefront if you want.
