Guest Spiff
Those X-wings that are seen in the movies go down with one direct hit. maybe they forgot to charge their shields?
K_Kinnison
TG shields system is wayy differnt then the SW univere shields. In the Canon universe, shilds compliment the armor of the craft. They SHOULDN'T be able to fully stop a laser blast With the Millenium falcon, you see the craft still being bumped around, and not deflecting the blasts like they have done in TPM or STAR TREK:NG
Guest Thrawn
I like to think of it as this way: In XWA, the shields are shields, there to take hits for you and keep ypur ship safe. In the movies, they are deflector shields, that help the ship avoid being hit at all. However, they'll go down if they are hit. ------------------ "Have no fear, your local Grand Admiral is here!" Guest Sir Overkill
If you listen closely to the movies you will notice that the squadrons are instructed to put shields to full front to protect against turret fire. Most of the shot-down X-wings were hit from the back by tie fighters. ------------------ "My squiggles salute you." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Guest Marril
Pretty dumb of those pilots to leave their shields double front when they knew there were TIEs behind them
Guest Carolina Jedi
I dont know about that but the reason why the sheilds are so strong in XWA is because the ship are so slow. ------------------ Finally the Carolina Jedi has come back to Xwing Alliance! K_Kinnison
IN the ANH radio drama explains the angling of the shields better. As the Y-wings were flying down the trench Gold leader told his wingman to angle the shields double front. GOld 1: Angle the deflector shields double front Tiree: The guns (turbolasers) they stopped Gold 1: Switch shileds to double back, and watch out for enimy fighters In the OT shields enhanced a ships armor. But in ANH shields we used to deflect laser blasts. That is fine if you are trying to defelect low powered blasters, or lasers, but against the guns in The OT i dought a deflector type shield would help you much
