JTL in UK out today - Amazon says dispatched in 1-2 weeks

If those half-wits at SOE dont get their act together im quitting the game.

JTL was already delayed once and today i went down to all the local game shops to see if they had it.

Most had never heard of it, none had it.

In one shop, i queued behind ten people(read sheep) who all were buying one of two games, GTA : SA or Halo 2, and when i asked about the game i wanted, JTL, it was almost like i had asked a stupid question, in other words i wasnt buying one of the two games that they seemed to have ordered in this week.

I got home and thought, screw the game shops and their sheep for customers, let me go on Amazon.co.uk to see if they had the game ready to order, it says "usually dispatched within 1-2 weeks". What????!!?. The game is out today supposedly.

Or did SOE count how many players subscribe to galaxies in the UK and allocate copies accordingly. They couldnt organise a piss up in a brewery.

RANT OVER

Ok, lets deal with this piece by piece.

Firstly.

All computer retailers such as Gamestation and maybe even GAME should know about Jump To Lightspeed. It was due for release on Nov 5, then put back to Nov 12.

Activision publish the game in the UK - NOT SOE. So as much as I love blaming them for making Galaxies the game it is, its not their fault.

Also, you cant really blame Activision as JTLS was announced so quickly by Lucasarts that there was no time to support it with advertising.

Amazon are NOT a specialist games retailer, so 1-2 weeks could be right or wrong. They are the masters of getting release dates wrong.

If you have a Gamestation near you pop in there, or check the PC sections. Most will have 3-5 copies in - which is more than the original Galaxies had in! Pre-orders for JTLS are more than Galaxies.

No time to support it?!?

Most people have known about JTL since even long before SWG: An Empire Divided came out, how could they not been prepared then?!?

Most gaming press have deadlines. For example. Magazines to be published in January are almost at deadline date now. So Activision didnt have time place advertisements or inform Editors of its release.

The fact that JTLS has taken MORE pre-orders than Galaxies did is a positive sign. And using Amazon is great but they are not a Specialist retailer in computer games.

Places like GAME and Gamestation should know better. But again, its all down to what the staff know and most of them prefer playing on consoles.

I was in a store a couple of weeks back buying the new Football Manager 2005 and listened in this conversation between an assistant and customer about Champ Manager 5 and FM 2005. He got it all so so wrong. So i offered my knowledge ;-)
