chrisakachris Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 Time for a reminder. http://www.sarahbettens.com is up and running. It looks new, it looks fresh, it looks ready. So does she. February is the planned date for the release of her album. http://www.gertbettens.com has one page. It's vague. You can almost hear the kind of music through one Internet splash page. http://www.kschoice.com was last updated a month or two ago.
Doubleplus GC Posted December 10, 2004 Posted December 10, 2004 Wait, wait, wait... White light to me? Like, a whiter light? Is my light black or something, am I functioning with a black light here? Are all my white shirts flourescing? Are my blackheads glowing orange? Does this album mean that cat piss won't glow anymore? What is Gert trying to do to me with this white light?
chrisakachris Posted December 10, 2004 Author Posted December 10, 2004 No no no, you got it all wrong. In this album, Gert is trying to reach out to people on his own. Therefore, his codename is White Light, and he is contacting you. Why White Light? Perhaps it is his Indian name. Perhaps it is because the two words rhyme, and Gert always had a way with lyrics and music. Perhaps he sees himself or his music as a white beacon of hope in today's world, or perhaps Väyte Läiit in Belgican means "SuperCool Dude".
Doubleplus GC Posted December 15, 2004 Posted December 15, 2004 Maybe he should sing in Belgican more often then, and we wouldn't be subjected to lyrics like "a toothbrush I use for the Eiffel Tower." Or, rather, we wouldn't understand them. See, I'm glad Sigur Ros decided to just sing gibberish. I'd read the translations to their Icelandic lyrics and think "man, the Icelanders must not like this nearly as much if they understand this crap."
chrisakachris Posted December 18, 2004 Author Posted December 18, 2004 It must suck to understand Sigur Ros's lyrics. Heh heh, poor Icelanders! First the ice, then this!
Doubleplus GC Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 Not that English-to-Icelandic works out that well anyway. I mean, do Bjork's lyrics make sense? Only occasionally. And are they well articulated? Hardly. Do they use metaphors about throwing cutlery out of windows as a way to start the day? Oh hell yes. But are they cute? Just can't be down on Bjork when you ask that one.
chrisakachris Posted December 25, 2004 Author Posted December 25, 2004 I got a personal letter from Sarah Bettens! Like everyone else on the newsletter's mailing list, of course. It really seemed like it was something she wrote, until the last few paragraphs about her Street Teams. It just seemed like something someone in Marketing would write.
Doubleplus GC Posted February 2, 2005 Posted February 2, 2005 Don't get your hopes up, she's still, like, a lesbian, right? (I know I'm about a month late, but... enh, I don't care)
Doubleplus GC Posted February 4, 2005 Posted February 4, 2005 I recently discovered the Best of K's Choice tape I put together in high school whilst I was cleaning my room. Man, that brought back memories. I'm amazed I still have all those lyrics memorized. A friend I gave a ride home said it was very good dyke-rock. I think that's a compliment
chrisakachris Posted February 15, 2005 Author Posted February 15, 2005 Did they know, or guess from the music style? My ear might still have a lot of training ahead of it (I don't mean in the cauliflower ear way).
Doubleplus GC Posted February 23, 2005 Posted February 23, 2005 I had already mentioned the lesbianism of Sarah. My friend probably would have considered it dyke-rock anyway.
chrisakachris Posted March 19, 2005 Author Posted March 19, 2005 Few things are forever and it Gerts when good things fade! He finished his first album! What does that mean? Will there be a second album soon? Who is this Brigade of the Moon? Do they have anything to do with Moon Roach? Where did the White Light go? It was to me! Also: I want Sarah's CD! You can watch the video for Not Insane on her site, and it seems nice and unintrusive.
