Kurgan
According to a visitor on my server, the way to get the "Droid Part Bug" to happen has been found, and it's rather simple. Apparently if two (or more) droid parts are captured at the same time, or too close to one another (I suppose for the Objective messages to catch up), the other parts aren't all counted, and thought to be "still missing" (Ie: objectives left undone, even though there are no more parts to grab), this ends up making it impossible for the Rebels to win that round. I wonder if there is a way to fix that bug? I doesn't seem to happen very often because you have to be really kicking butt. But it's frustrating when you NEED the time and yet the game screws you over for doing well. ; p Btw, I must say this latest beta is AWESOME, and apart from seeing a "stealth bike" for a brief second or two (sorry, no screenshot) it seems pretty much an improvement over basejka, at least where Siege is concerned (I Noticed some team issues with CTF...instances of the same team carrying both flags and teammates attacking one another repeatedly). Though I am clueless as to getting TeamVoteKick to work. What combination of Cvars do I need to use? It seems I simply can't turn it on... period. ; p Keep up the great work, Raz! Kurgan
I put this bug report in with the OJP text file in the other thread with other suggestions. Anyway, for the curious, here's a few pics of the "stealth bike" bug I saw happen again... enjoy! http://strategy.jediknight.net/jka/cloakedbike.zip
razorace
This bug should be fixed now.
razorace
Oops, sorry, I thought this was the thread about the droid head bug on Hoth. That bug was fixed. This bug hasn't been checked out yet.
Kurgan
Any progress on this one? Or insights?
razorace
The C++ class operator *= requires you to directly alter the calling object rather than return an instance of the class object.
Kurgan
Sorry to be the bumper of many threads, but how is this one going? Was this bug fixed or not? (or did you determine that it was unfixable, as I didn't really understand your last post)
razorace
Sorry, I still have no clue what is causing this bug.
ensiform
btw theres a few more bugs in desert also, you can tk some objectives and things with a swoop explosion, like the stations. also one of the walls can be gotten through after you take out 2 out of the 3 (dont think this can be fixed). also one of the health stations can be used through a wall. if u wanna see any of these i can take demos if u need. edit: oh also the missing droid parts bug can happen when on swoop in desert. razorace
I don't see using a swoop as an explosive device being a bad thing.
ensiform
uhm it is when your doing it to the objectives your trying to protect.
razorace
oooh, that's not so good then.
RBitG
Is there a way to dissalow Swoops to enter the bunkers? Because making them non-explosive would really suck. :S
ensiform
well i wouldnt say make them not explosive... just make it so the explosion doesnt damage allied objectives.
Lathain Valtiel
Well, the problem is that you can't really do that. The best you could do as far as I can tell is assign a vehicle a team based who was last on it. The problem with this of course is leaping on a flaming enemy vehicle about to destroy your station console to swap it to your team.
ensiform
what about, last who made it take damage. cuz u dont exactly have to be on it to work.
Lathain Valtiel
Then what happens if someone allied with the console shoots it as it's coming in, and it happens to stop next to the console?
razorace
uh, actually that would mean that it would count as being on the other dude's team. Lath has a point thou. We're going to have to be careful about how we do this due to the uni-team status of the bikes.
Lathain Valtiel
Razor: Then if that's the case, anyone with a splash weapon like Techs could screw themselves over accidentially if shooting a bike makes it 'hostile', shall we say.
razorace
Hmmm, maybe just reduce the explosive radius and damage level?
Lathain Valtiel
That's a gameplay change and would universally make it harder on one team, namely offense. That's not really fair.
ensiform
there is also a way to spam your use key on buttons for lifts and you can make it so people cant get up the lift. best to do on hoth just after the two turrets.
Lathain Valtiel
Yes, I'e known about that for a long, long time. Unfortunately, I don't think there's a way to stop it, and then there's a question of whether the tactic is illegitimate in the first place. Cheap? Hell yes. Illegitimate? Maybe not. I suppose it's a gameplay change, but isn't the move not fair in the first place? I mean, one swoop explosion vs a lot of dets seems not so good. Lathain Valtiel
All things considered, Station 3 (left of arena door, biggest station) is nightmarishly hard to get through without a bike if it's well defended...
