Fred Tetra
PCGameMods' File Submission policy has some worrisome language in it, specifically, item #7: 7. Any files uploaded to pcgamemods become property of the owner of this site and his partners. Doesn't sound like a condition I'll agree to, and I don't remember seeing it before. Hmmm... tk102
I agree Fred... Back in the day, I had once asked Kengo if I could remove any of my submissions and he said sure. But now that we have that dictator T7Nowhere over there as admin, we're screwed!

It's been there for as long as I can remember. If they want my stickin' mods they can have them, but I would be hesistant to put KT on there (too late ). T7nowhere
It is a troubleing rule, But I think its been there for quite sometime. As far as I'm concerned I would never leave up a file if the author if it was requested it to be taken down. I think it is your right to decide. Most likely the reason the rule is up there is to protect the site owner, Sergio. And is not there with any malicious plans in place. However if you would like to Voice your opinion you can do so at PCGM's Forum. Sergio is currently in the middle of rebuilding the site and adding many new features which you can read about and discuss hereNew Site, New Rules and part 2 of it is here New Site, New Rules (Part 2)
Fred Tetra
Perhaps the language could be amended to something like "The poster of the file grants the site owner permission to host the file." I'm not an expert on contract law, but having looked over a few, that #7 bothers me
Lightning
Peopel ahve been asking that on pcgamemods.com forum also: Rule 7 should probably be reworded a bit. We don't actually own your files (so I couldn't steal your maps and try to sell them to Valve or Raven), but we do have control over what we do with the files on the site. Basically when you upload to pcgamemods you are giving us the right to what we want with the file on the site. So for instance we can say no to a delete request, or if someone wants their mods disabled etc.. source: http://www.pcgamemods.com/forum/topicdisplay.php?t=6689&page=
Fred Tetra
Well, that's a bit better description, but if they maintain that they can decline a deletion request, it's not the place for me to submit files. I don't expect that I would be needing to make one, but I feel ownership of created material gives one a certain rights that would be abrogated by agreeing to such terms. cchargin
Hello all, I just checked (2-13-2005) and Rule 7 now reads: "Pcgamemods reserves the right to delete or edit any submission. " I release my stuff under the GPL. Delete my stuff from their site? Fine by me. Change my stuff? As long as they honor the GPL, fine by me.
