The council was taking too long, and they might have not even taken action and saved the republic they were sworn to protect, even though, the Jedi knew that it will make Revan fall.......they should have still gone because it might have stopped Revan from falling and even if he fell, the jedi must understand that there will never be peace, there must always be a light and dark side in order for the force to achieve balance. So if the jedi just sat there "evaluating" the threat, the mandalorians would have won, and they would have caused even more destruction that Revan since Revan wanted to stabilize the galaxy instead of blindly destroying stuff like Malak.
