[TSL mod] Sith Battle Simulation

I'm using the Asia-Pacific KotOR 2 right now, and your mod worked fine for most of it; except that it's stuck at Level 3. I got to Level 3 and after 4 Sith, Sion and Nihilius stopped summoning more enemies. I still got to get to the door and into the Ebon Hawk, but I'd like it if I could fight into higher levels.

Very strange. I'm unable to re-create this problem. I go beyond lvl 3,4,5 just fine (using cheat of course :p)

Can you describe in detail how this is happening.

Firstly, are you ALWAYS getting stuck at lvl3 or only sometimes? When you say, "Sion and Hihilus stopped spawning enemies", do you mean like there is totally no one left to fight? Also, what is your style of play: are you luring enemies away or stay close to holograms?

 

Lastly, what is this Asia-pacific version? Is it in English?

Maybe these damn dialogs causing this again. Could it be that different versions of the game respond differently to incorrect language IDs. German version just crashes, my version seems to lock up in dialog mode, maybe Asian version stacks this dialogs up and at some point stops responding at all. :nut:

if you want to translate the text in dialogs,

 

at this point, you use GFFEdit to open .dlg file. Link to this program is somewhere in the sticky threads in this forum. Darth333, posted a screenshot above of what must be done. Only, instead of just changing language ID, you can also change actual text to german.

Actually, I haven't tried it again. I will after this. And I stay generally close to the holograms, but after the first Level 3 fight, in which I casted Master Energy Resistance, Force Enlightenment (I'm playing the StormSinger saves) and Master Battle Meditation and then after I finished the last one, they didn't spawn any more enemies.

 

And Asia-Pacific is English, I would think. i'm not really sure, but I think it's generally English-based. I'd give you a sample of our dialog.tlk if you want.

Thanks, but that's not necessary. If your dialog texts (I mean in the game itself, not in the mod) are in English, then its language ID should be English.. I would assume.

 

 

Why not? how could you write it then?

 

It's done in the scripts and scripts are compiled. I'd need to give you all source files if you want to translate that text, but I can't do that now because I am still working on them .. as you can see.

When (if) I am all finished, I'll probably release the source and you can modify whatever you wish, but until then, basically, everything can change. I may yet scrap all these dialogs altogether.

The fact that you didn't get the message saying "Initiating Level ##" while already in that level is not a problem. I know it's a minor glitch but it shouldn't affect actual spawning of enemies. In my test runs, the spawning happens just as it's supposed to.

 

Can anybody who played the mod confirm this error?

 

Anyway, thanks for bringing this to my attention, stinkymonz. I don't think I can fix it for you now, but I was planning to adjust main "spawning" routines in the scripts anyway, so this might be fixed in the next release but there are no guarantees.

I'm experiencing the same problem as

stinkymonz. Basically what happens is when I finish a level, the "Level X" message fails to appear and the enemies just stop spawning. It happens at different levels too...

 

I'm using an English version of KOTOR 2, but my computer's localization/language settings are set to Japanese... soo... might be an Asian language problem? :confused:

Ok, thanks for the info.

 

I think I'm going to remove those little level messages completely. I am having a suspicion that they somehow get stacked (in a particular situation) and cause the main routine to mulfunction. As I mentioned earlier, I too had instances where a message won't be shown, but this didn't affect the main gameflow.

 

I don't think this has to do with localisation because if your game is in English, its language ID is English(0), regardless of what your Windows is set to. (Otherwise you woulnd't have seen any text at all, or worse - the game would have crashed).

 

I'm hoping that with my new and hopefully improved spawning mechanics, this problem will go away by itself.

When does this happen exactly? If it hapens when you click "Launch" in the console, it starts loading.. and then freezes/crashes, it's probably because you haven't installed the mod properly. PLEASE, read the readme instructions carefully.

 

 

@stefan, I really don't know when next update will be. Unfortunately, I don't have much time to work on the mod now.
