What Are Jedi Allowed to Do?

I was just kinda wondering how restricted the jedi are in doing day to day things that people take for granted. The code seemed kind of strict, and so I thought maybe other people had thought a lot more about this than i have, and maybe have some answers.

 

Are jedi allowed to drink coffee or soda?

Obi Wan drank something that looked like coffee in the diner in Episode 2. Coffee of course has caffeine in it, which is a stimulant. So are jedi allowed to take stimulants? Where do they draw the line? Spice? Crack?

 

Are jedi allowed to buy things like hats or t-shirts or a cool pair of shades? I know that the jedi take a vow of poverty or something, but they always have very high tech gear, like a lightsaber and spacecrafts and little doohickeys that allow them to breath underwater. they must get money from somewhere, right? Probably donations. But what if a jedi decided to start some kind of little business, making hemp necklaces or something? Would that be allowed? There doesn't seem to be anything immoral about that.

 

Are jedi allowed to listen to music? I know that some music gets me pretty emotional sometimes, and being overly emotional is kind of a no no for jedi. But wouldn't it be kind of ridiculous for the order to prohibit jedi from experiencing art?

 

And what about pets? Can jedi have those? I don't see anything wrong with having a pet dog or whatever the star wars equivalent of a dog is.

You have to think of the jedi along the lines of a religeon more than a social group but less than an army. so they have strict rules that are based on faith.

The jedi as a singular person does not have any personal posseions other than a lightsaber and jedi robes, the robes are the only dress a jedi should ware unless they are in extreame curcumstanses. I think the jedi are pretty much 'funded' by the republic and all buildings and ships are donated to them. The 'doohickeys' are assigned to jedi by the council as they see fit thats why qui'gon has a metachlorine detector with him, the same applies to ships as i got the feeling that obi wans fighter in EP2 was not his. Music is generally based on culture so the jedi proberly have their own jedi music. And pets are for sith lords as i have never heard of a jedi with a pet other than a padawan that i think was han solo son.
