Ellderon
I used the MDL tool to convert a lightsabre from mdl to ascii mdl, but 3D Max can't open it. does anyone know here I can find a plug-in or something so I can start imporing my lightsabres? T7nowhere
You need to install this Plug-in for either 3dsmax or gmax to be able to import the models.

Fred Tetra
There's a section in my map assembly instructions here than might help explain a little bit about how to use NWMax. Hope it helps!

Ellderon
CRAP! what the hell is a Sanoty Check? It pops up when I export the Max model back... I folowed the tutorial to the letter and replaced w_shortsabre_002, 003 and 004 with my greatsabre hilts, but they don't show up in the game *3D Max rendering of the hilt* furthemore, when I use the MDLops tool, I can convert the normal lightsabre models to ascii format - all except w_shortsabre_001. for some reason it allways converts it as a binary file and 3DMax won't open it... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaa
cchargin
Hello, furthemore, when I use the MDLops tool, I can convert the normal lightsabre models to ascii format - all except w_shortsabre_001. for some reason it allways converts it as a binary file and 3DMax won't open it... If MDLOps is converting a file to binary then you are starting with an ascii model. To make sure you have the right model do this: 1) run mdlops 2) click "select file" then find your model file and click "open" 3) now click "Read model" 4) look at the title bar for MDLOps. You will see the internal name of the model and then some info about the model like: w_AdhsvGren_001 (binary k2 source) In this example we have: model name: w_AdhsvGren_001 source: binary version: k2 (i.e. kotor 2) Once you know what type of model it is I suggest renaming it so it is clear in the future. I wish nwmax was more clear in how it names the files it exports. what the hell is a Sanity Check? These are checks that nwmax does to make sure that a model will work with neverwinter nights. check this thread for some important tip for when a model does not show in game: http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=143548 If you are still having problems you can send me your max file and I will take a look at it.
