boinga1
I'm just getting into modding. I've been playing around, and trying some things, mostly along the lines of recruit mods. I know that a recruit mod probably is not a great idea in TSL, due to all the cutscenes and things that require certain party members. But I wanted to try it anyway, for the heck of it. I've been spawning my NPC's and running my scripts by editing the dialogues so far. Whenever I edit a dialogue and put it in the Override folder, it doesn't work right. Once I editted Kreia's intro dialogue on Korriban, which screwed it up when I clicked on the Sith Corpses (she didn't warn to ignore them). Another time I changed the dialogue for DIllan (the one who greets you on Dantooine), and she did not see my lightsaber, even when it was equipped. Neither of these was a biggie, but they were signs of troubles to come. Most recently, I've been trying to make scripts so the NPC Jedi (Vrook, Vandar, and Zez-man) will join the party. I started out with Zez-kai ell, because I had a save game on Korriban. When the first cutscene with him loads (the player is unconscious on the ground), he gave me the dialogue for supporting the Exchange, when he should have given me the stuff about doing both. Then, when I tried to leave the room, the door was locked and unopenable. This kind of interrupted my testing. Are these problems simply inherent to editting the dialogue for important NPC's, or am I doing something wrong?
Xcom
Hi, What tool are you using to edit dialogues? Hopefully, tk102's DLGEditor. AFAIK, Kotor Tools's Conversation editor will not save all the data correctly for TSL dlgs.
boinga1
I've been using some combination of both. I'll go back now and use just tk's editor. Edit: Tried it, worked fine. Thanks.
