Get paid to Google?

I posted this over at XWA, but this place seems to get more traffic (and thus more input).

 

I came across something interesting on one of the paintball forums I get around on... I dunno how it works, but apparently you can get paid to make google searches.

 

I haven't signed up yet, but I'm tempted... There doesn't seem to be any spyware involved, and I can't see any obligations... Here's the link the guy posted if you wanna check it out yourself: http://netbux.org/?r=1072

 

Looks like a pyramid scheme, but without any risk... Whaddaya think? Scam or no?

I honestly can't see it working in the long run. Anything that sounds that simple and 'too good to be true' has to have a catch of some kind in my book. My first questions would be "Where is his money coming from?" and "Why?"

I looked around the site a lttle bit and couldn't really find a good answer to those. Who's funding this?

 

Plus: billions of people already Google for free... why now pay them to do it? There must be data of some sort being collected from this, but for what purpose? Marketing? Advertising?

 

If enough people and referrals sign up it could amount to many millions of dollars being paid out a month. That's a lot of money to spend. There has to be some purpose to it.

 

My vote: Maybe not a scam (although it probably is) but very shady and suspicious, nonetheless.

anyone can get paid to google by putting a google adsense search bar on there website, any time someone searches from it and clicks a sponsored search item you get money. if I weren't so bored at work I wouldn't be searching archives for random stuff like this :-p
