samuel
How do you make custom NPC's? I cant seem to pin a good Tut on it. All i want is an NPC that can - - Talk to ya - That is wearing the stuff i want him to wear - If you choose a certain dialogue i want him to give you a mission
T7nowhere
Well the first thing to do is open a utc(character file) file using KT in the templates.bif. open anyone it doesn't matter becuase you will customize it anyway. Once open you will want to change the "tag", the "First name" and the appearance on the basic tab. this is pretty straight forward. Next thing to do just to get it out of the way would be to also rename the "Template ResRef" on the Advanced tab to something new. to keep it simple I would just make it the same as the tag. The rest of the tabs are pretty straight forward. To equip new items on your npc click on the "Inventory" button, the layout will look very familar, Fred has be great at keeping the gui intuitive. * One important thing to be aware of is the appearance that your using for your npc. Most only have the basic model that they use so if you equip armor on them it will not show, or it could make them invisable Now once you have your npc set up you will want create a dialog file for it, to do this you will need tk102's DLG editor. I'm not gonna go into detail on how to use it When you have finnished the dialog you need to attach it to your npc, this is very simple all you have to do is open your npc's utc file and on the basic tab is the box where you type the file name of your dialog (with out the .dlg file extension) save it then your done building your character. Now obviously making a living interesting npc isn't a few steps and most likely will take a bit of work to make it the way you want, but this is only a brief summary of what you have to do. You will want to decide where to spawn your new npc and place him there. Darth333's How to recruit an npc in less than 10 steps will explain how to do this. well that should get you started, but im sure you will have many more questions so feel free to ask them when your stuck . T7nowhere
Only if your making the mod for KotOR. KT's Dlgeditor is not yet compatible with TSL. Don't pester Fred though I think he has more than earned some time to play TSL.
samuel
My thoughts exactly he has done an awesome job on KT and im sure he sacrificed endless valuable KotOR hours for it, anyways Im sure we will all get by until (or even IF) he does update if for K2. Thanx again for the Help T7! Im gonna have a crack at a Plo Koon npc (partially cos I wont have to do the animations for his mouth )
