Trouble when encountering new Tie Fighter model

I'm having the hardest time getting through a particular mission. I don't know the name of the actual mission but its the one where my wingman and I break off from escort duty and hyper into another area where we encounter a new type of Tie Fighter attacking a convoy.

 

Whats the best way to getting past this one? I try my best to kill all the Ties but I keep getting killed. I heard the key was to simply survive, but the convoy will get destroyed.

I sort of remember that one. Are you in an A-wing? Well, keep hitting "E" to see who is targeting you and get them from a distance with missiles. That's the best way to live through that one, I think.

But simply staying alive will not complete the mission. You want to keep targeting parts of the convoy and hit the "a" key. This will show you what TIEs are attacking them.

One easy way of quickly taking down all of the Experimental TIEs at once is to attack the ETR Suluk. Just fly in, pund him with your lasers and missles, and then fly out and repeat. Because the ETR is the ship that is controlling the TIEs (you will discover this later), once it goes, all of the Experimental TIEs automatically shut down (thus giving you an easily hit target)
