New Kind of Bomb Opt

Can any one whose really good with opt making Tell me how to make a Spherical bomb like used in Empire Strikes back when the Tie Bombers were Bombing the Astroids. Or like in Rogue Sqaudron for N64 n Pc? The bombs lOok like Energy I guess.....and are in a sphere and a lit up........I was wondering if you could use an Engine Glow to surround the Sphere opt?
