(Dart's not weak.)

D'Artagnan laughed, crossing the water, reaching a barrier. Dart laughed, jumping out of the canoe with the cat. "Hold your breath, Ying-Yang." He dived under the barrier, with the cat in hand, and emerged on the other side of the buoy.

"I can see the island you were meowing about from here! I guess you really wanna go there, huh?"

(Is it okay if I try to start some general plot thing?)

(Sarah is pretending to be asleep.)

D'Artagnan swam to the island, gruelingly but rather quickly. "Finally...this almost reminds me of a video game, kitty. Now then, don't get lost..." (JAK AND DAXTER REFERENCE TO MISTY ISLAND. EXCEPT NO JETBOAT)

The cat jumped onto a block of rubble, and scampered away.

"I said don't get lost!"

From his pack, he pulled a bottle of a drink, and gulped the whole thing down.

"Come on cat. Don't make me run."

Sarah stared at her watch again. Still a long time.

She sat on the bed, staring as the numbers blinked back at her. "Screw it. I'll go without Renee."

She pulled her shoes on, put her backpack on, and dashed out, narrowly missing hitting some of the members of the group outside in the process. "Sorry!" She shouted out, giving a two-fingered salute/wave before heading for the main lodge.

((Jak and Daxter reference indeed. All the way down to the annoying "chase the muse" game!))

(Oh alright. As you can see, I'm on and off.)

"It really didn't mean anything." He repeated over and over again to himself. "Just a kiss on the cheek. It didn't mean anything."

But then why was he blushing so hard?

"It didn't mean anything."

But why had she run off, her face flushed?

"Just a kiss on the cheek.... Just a kiss on the cheek."

D'Artagnan dashed at almost inhuman speed into the wreckage, climbing up a broken rope, and passing a wrecked toilet. He found a bubbling pool of acid, and the cat floated just above it.

"Yin-Yang, be careful! That's dangerous!"

Foolishly, he dived at the cat, catching himself on some rubble, and jumping up just enough to avoid the acid.

"Yin-Yang, now is not a good time to play tricks," he said, looking down at his possible fate.

Sarah was currently sitting on the dock, staring at the barrier. She hadn't been expecting that. Not at all. Not to mention the canoes were either rotting or burnt. It would take too long to make one.

She let her feet dangle, just brushing the water as she stared across. The tower on the other side still taunted her, making her wonder just what was across the lake. This fact absorbed her attention to the point she didn't notice Milla.

D'Artagnan made one jump, catching the cat, and landing on solid ground again.

"Cat," he said, "what are we doing here? We should be back at camp. I think Milla said never to go here on one of the bulletin boards!"

The cat wandered further on into a huge remaining room, where chanting was heard within.

D'Artagnan reached for the doorknob, intimidated. He took a swig of his energy drink, and put his hand on the knob. He backed up, feeling a shock.

"I think I need to find another way," he said.

Sarah simply waved off Milla like she would any other person, still staring at the shadow. A thousand thoughts were going through her mind. What was it that could be on the other side? It could be everything from an abandoned amusement park to... who knows, an insane asylum? There was something about a "Thorny Towers" on that giant stump. Maybe that was the same place.

D'Artagnan came upon a small orb. Words flooded his ears, as he stopped. He picked it up, and looked into it. He saw only water, and suddenly something huge emerged. He dropped the orb in shock, and just then a horrible, shrill scream emerged, so loud it could be heard echoing across the lake.

"Eyyyaaaagh!" screamed Dart, covering his ears.

"Hoo boy...well I can't stop now!" He continued down the stairs, now almost scared.
