creating the ingame map

As some of you may know, theres a project being worked on to restore M4-78 back in to TSL.........and any of you who have browsed around the unfinished modules will know that we have our work cut out for us

but the other day we finished cleaning up most of the modules and are beginning to add all the plot related items........the thing is there is one thing missing that we have no clue where to start at

how do you add the little ingame map at the bottom of the screen? the one with the arrow that points as to which way your character is walking? I sincerely doubt the maps already exist for M4-78 so we will most likely have to create our own........but where do we start? what do we use? and how do we implement it??

thanks for the help

Well, you can either draw it freehand or render the model that makes up the module to .tga format.
