StaffSaberist Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 Looks like a faithful reproduction of that room from t3_rift. Good job on that. But why not embellish it with a little of your own stuff? Extremely good advice, that. It seems to me I should create custom .md3 files and give them a t3_rift feel so they will blend with the map. So, I looked up in this forum other n00b's who were just getting started. I have d/led and activated gmax (looks flamin' awesome, btw) but I can't get it to open .md3 files. Is there a way to get it to open these files? I would love to have custom objects in my mapset. It would only add to the detail, and prevent me from using the clipping tool about 15,000 times.
Mono_Giganto Posted November 29, 2005 Posted November 29, 2005 You need to get an importer/exporter for .md3 files, which isn't included with Gmax. Only site I know of that hosts such files is down, so you're going to have to ask around for the plugins.
StaffSaberist Posted November 29, 2005 Author Posted November 29, 2005 Do you know the name of the plugin? Generic searches don't usually turn up the right kind of results. EDIT - Got it. I am looking at the .zip file for the exporter, having installed the importer. I see a bunch of .dle's, .dli's, and .gif's. Where do I extract them to? I'm putting them on the desktop for now, but where do they go?
Mono_Giganto Posted November 29, 2005 Posted November 29, 2005 Wherver you installed Gmax, look in its directory. There should be a folder called 'plugins.' You can put the .dle and the .dli files in there. I'm not sure about the .gif's they probably don't do anything, but I could be wrong.
