ensiform
Well i don't know where to start but it seems as though when a bot picks up thermal detonators (usually from pulling them from an enemy) causes them to just get immediate lag and the connection interupted icon is above their head. There are also other problems, like sometimes when they pull it from you it doesnt remove from your inventory, also a friend of mine was getting lag himself but not like that after picking up more thermals and on respawning after someone pulled thermals out of his hand and picking it up i really have no freaking clue why any of this is happening. I also notice that when u taunt with thermals out it goes into a loop and wont stop also the player's force wont regenerate with thermal detonators out period. im not really sure where to start for asking because its just some weird **** and i have not touched the stuff since unlagged and afaik it worked b4 so yeah. there is a demo that my online friend took but i dont think you can view without mod and nobody but me and friend has and i wont be releasing it esp. now. http://m0n573r.afraid.org/jawaclan/thermalbug.dm_26 edit: i think i fixed. stay tuned tomorrow
razorace
Weird. I've never had any problem with the thermals before. My guess is that your Unlagged code has an infinite loop (or something close to one) in there somewhere.
Wudan
Well an infinite loop would cause a crash eventually - you're saying it just lags you very hard? Whenever thermals are pulled? That's just weird. I'd probably clean and rebuild (which you've probably already done.)
razorace
hmmm, could it possibly not be pre-cashing the thermal effects/models?
ensiform
i discovered it was due to stubert's original 'fix' of the thermal detonators not working properly with unlagged by the normal fire ones not bouncing and neither of them actually detonating on contact. at least most of the code that was supposedly that fix was causing that problem, i commented most of it out and everything appears to be working, i havent fully checked the lag yet but everything else seems to be working now. nj stubert with teh crappy code
Wudan
Ah ok, well at least you fixed it. Nobody writes absolutely perfect code, sometimes you gotta get dirty to get it done.
ensiform
yep but the rs code wasnt exactly clean from the start.
stubert
not like you could even come remotly close to figuring it out without me working on it for a week straight ungrateful brat
ensiform
yeah right whatever, it needed to be reverted to base way for part of it.
stubert
so it must me my fault. i see.
Wudan
stubert, he's just not going to respect the work you've done. Period. I know that must suck, but that's the way it goes some times. I know I'm always worried when somebody sees my code - I've got absolutely no formal training. I just showed my Q3 code to some guy and this guy keeps finding bugs in it. I'm like, WTF, of course it has bugs - I haven't given it enough attention, that's life, I do what I can.
Cid88
See, I just never show my co-workers my code at work because then they have a habit of stealing it and claiming its their own work. Grr.
razorace
Only show work that you're willing for other people to "borrow". This is the concept behind OJP and it's worked out nicely since I'm pleased that people want to use my code.
ensiform
u guys are taking this the wrong way and off topic so please just drop it. i mean the ip problem existed pre-me joining rs so thats what i was getting at.
