manoman81
I haven't had internet access on my desktop for almost a year. Back then, my NIC was working fine. I got a laptop so I could use internet on campus at the beginning of the semester. So, back in October, I bought a print server router for about $40 at CompUSA. I installed the print server drivers and for a while, everything worked great. The desktop will have a connection for about 20 minutes and then will have a connection for 2 secs. then show no connection. I have tried 2 brand new Cat5 cables. The laptop will stay connected with zero problems. The table that shows what IPs are connected to it only show the laptop. I am 99% sure it's the onboard NIC. However, I am trying everything but getting a new NIC because I'm lazy. Can I try and just d/l new updated drivers specifically for the NIC or would it be in the driver for the motherboard? Or is it the router? I don't have the exact specs, but it'a an Asus mobo with an AMD 28000+ processor. I'm thinking once I get my refund back from my school loans, I might just go and put out the money for a namebrand router. Any suggestions would be great. Edit: So, the swamp has magical powers. I turned on the desktop last night when I got home and for some reason, it final installed the PnP drivers for the router...2 months later. So, uh .... nevermind.
