dannyboy233
Hi all, I recall sometime ago, there was a discussion about a Class System for multiple gametypes. I was wondering if this is still going to be implemented. In my Opinion, it would be fantastic, and add a lot more of that teamwork element into TFFA games etc. For the Classes, i reckon they should be somthing along the lines of these. They should probably be movie realistic. Example for Team FFA classes; -Blue Team (Would be great if Blue could be renamed to Rebels or Somthing similar) >Jedi - Lightsaber, forcepowers (maybe customizable?) >CloneTrooper - Clone Rifle(Repeater mod), Pistol, Faster running? >ARC Trooper - Athletic e.g Jumping a little higher, flipping etc, Dual Pistols >Hero(or somthing similar) >More powerful rifle, Thermal Dets, Faster running, maybe sniper rifle? >Soldier - E11, 3 or 4 Thermal Dets(Soldier class isnt really necessary) -Red Team (Maybe Empire, Villians or somthing?) >Sith - Equivilent of Jedi, except with Red Saber >Mandalorian - Jetpack, Dual Pistols, Flamethrower? >Bounty Hunter - Thermal Dets, Sniper Rifle, Pistol, Fast Running >Droideka - Self Explanatory >Trooper - E11, Pistol, Thermal Dets (Basically a Storm Trooper) Well yeah thats about it lol. JRHockney*
Why do I get the feeling you've been playing alot of ForcemodIII and Moviebattles 2! LOL. The way you're suggesting it would make it have a lot of similarities to Moviebattles 2 (except for the team FFA part and soldiers with thermal dets). I'm not really against it (being a MB2 fan), but it all depends on the direction OJP is trying to take this mod. I'm curious about this myself and interested to see what Razor Ace has to say about it.
dannyboy233
Yeah, i play alot of MbII myself, awesome mod. Lol, but with that aside, i was looking at older topics, and from the way i interpretated it was that Razor was seriously considering a Class system. And in my opinion, the way MB has done its classes is extremely well done. Not to many like FMIII(imo), and they are well balanced. Another way to look at implementing it would be to have a choice when you join a Class TFFA server to join either the 'Jedi/Sith' team, or the 'Merc' team. Jedi/Sith would get sabers and force, no weapons, while mercs should have access to a 'Buy' menu, when they have a limited amount of points to buy certain weapons, with each weapon taking up a certain amount of points. This would be similar to MBII's Class customization menu.
razorace
To be perfectly honest, I haven't really decided on what to do about this sort of thing yet. Unfortunately, doing any of this would require a lot of time to impliment, even just to try it out. As such, I've been more concentrating on the specifics of features that I know I'm going to want (like the saber combat system) until I come up with a plan for the possible class/skills system. However, I should note that I'm more of a fan of a skills based system than a class based one, simply because it gives more options to the player. JRHockney*
Works for me. The saber system is the primary reason I come here and play OJP and greater attention to making it work perfectly is the best thing you can do in my opinion. A skill based system is fine as long as its still fairly balanced. It might be interesting in certain game modes to have a certain amount of points that can be spent on weapons, saber forms, and force points. This kind of "make your own hero" system would help keep things balanced while leaving the general options open.
dannyboy233
Yeah, skill based systems are great, for the reason you gave. Anyway, just an idea;)
