Guest Zoom Rabbit
Quick, use your echolocation abilities, Ros! What did I tell you about navigating by visual stimuli alone?
Guest Zoom Rabbit
I think that 'art' can be safely taken into a broader context and defined as any way we choose to express ourselves. Note: I dismiss the dictionary out of hand when it comes to quibbling definition. We learn the meanings of words from context or rote as we're growing up; almost none of the words we use did we go to a dictionary to learn the precise definition thereof. A lot of people will say that they aren't artistic, yet do find self-expression in ways they simply hadn't considered art. Someone who can't draw a straight line might keep poems in their journal. Some people express themselves in how they decorate their homes. A lot of people have recipes they've made up, but would never consider serving to guests at home because it 'probably isn't good enough.' Perhaps art is something we need as intelligent creatures. Maybe that intelligence generates results we are compelled somehow to convey to others. Like when I draw a happy face in a dirty window. Art. Admiral Zaarin
My favourite art forms would have to be music and writing. Music (note 'Music', not it's modern variant 'speaking/screaming with a tune in the background') is just so inspirational. Each song is it's own world. When I write, I have to listen to a tune like that. Try listening to Haydn's 'Kyrie Eleison', the first piece in the Nelson Mass. That is one truly l33t tune. And Nute, I can really sympathise with you about writing. The scale of your imagination just can't be conveyed in words. Vast universes, yet deseigned down to the tinyest detail. (BTW, if anyone happens to see a story out there called 'Apocalypse Portal', that's me) <pre></shameless self-promotion></pre> Zaarin. ------------------ And what of the Director's Lenses? The logs show they fled the scene in a shuttle. That is all the information we have sir, there is a high probability that the shuttle was destroyed in the battle. A shame.....but we'll buy George Lucas another pair of glasses. Guest Zoom Rabbit
Sure. Coca-Cola was art...at least according to Andy Warhol. Personally, I think Andy Warhol's hair was art. I'm curious about your book, Nute. I had a novel (sci-fi obviously) that I worked on a lot when I was younger. It got way too big, and I abandoned it. I later picked it up again in my twenties, reworked the characters and such into something more manageable...but it, too, got to be too much story for me to finish. Sound familiar?
