HK-47 a Jedi?

Master Dakari

Recommended Posts

Okay, I downloaded the KOTOR Tool and the KOTOR Savegame Editor. I have changed HK's appearance and portrait to a selectable male PC head, and I have changed his class from Combat Droid to Jedi Guardian, and I have given him Jedi and lightsaber feats.

Everything is working just fine... except the fact that he still has his "droid" status. He cannot equip armor, melee weapons, or lightsabers. Any suggestions on how I can change this so he can act as yet another Jedi in the party, but basically remain HK-47 for all intents and purposes?

Thanks to you all,

Master Dakari

Sounds like you haven't changed his Race in the UTC template. When a creature has Droid set as Race they can't equip Melee weapons, have the droid inventory slots, become invulnerable to "Mind" force powers and vulnerable to the "Destroy Droid" ones. You'll need to change his Race to Human.

I was able to find the UTC Template. I changed his race to "Human" but it didn't show up in the current game. Would I have to start a new game before the changes take effect?

Yes, changes to creature templates don't take effect after that creature has been spawned into the game world. When they have been spawned the template is no longer used, the character instance data is stored in the savegame instead. (UTCs are blueprints used for creating creatures in-game.)

So, you'll either have to destroy HK47 and re-create him in the game, or edit him and change the Race in the savegame instead, or use a savegame from before you first met him.

If you destroy and respawn him (which is probably the easiest way for testing), make sure you unequip any items he may have equipped or they will disappear as well.

*Arnold's voice* I'm back! But it worked though. And boy isn't it great!

Now, I have one extra Jedi in my party! Everyone, meet Jedi Knight Aych Kay! :D

I chose Jedi Guardian for him. I gave him a PC selectable head and portrait, changed his race to 'human', and gave him 'Jedi' feats so he could wear robes and equip lightsabers right from the start. But the best thing is, he's still HK-47...if you keep the dialogue.

When you first get on the Ebon Hawk he will look normal (like a droid). But once you install all of the HKparts, and after he powers-up, he will look like the selected head, and be an actual Jedi.

How awesome is that, or what?

Well, if you're using human appearance, change the race to Human, and use force powers and lightsabers, you're not really Hk-47, are you?

You can't make HK-47 a Jedi.

Oh, ye of little faith. He is still HK. He only looks different. I could have just as easily changed his race and class and the the mod still have worked. However, the droid model can't wear robes (visually), nor do they have melee animations.

So, yes. He is still HK. Just look at it as a new and improved HK-47.
