Rubenes
My friend has recently (Friday) bought Empire At War, and thinks I should buy it. But from the demo, I see there is not very much strategy. So here is my question: Do the maps in the full version allow more strategy, or is this game pure tactics and choosing the right units? Because the map on Tatooine gives not much strategy: north or south, and the space map only allows left or right of the small asteroid/asteroid field (I don't remember). Also, I have questions about the planet structures. In the demo, pressing a button puts structures down. But can you decide where to put these structures, or are they placed in predetermined positions? What about the defensive structures? It would suck if you couldn't choose where to place them, because the people who play a lot will know where these defenses are and it would be easy to counter them. Orao
It is much more focused on tactics. All strategy you'll got from it is on which planet you will have to set your fleet orbiting i order to prevent ennemy incursion in your systems. As for structures you cant decide where those will be, however when you are defending the planet you will have buildpads all over the planet and if you have built the vehicules factory and/or barracks they will spawn regulary vehicules and/or infantry for you based on how many troops you had when the attack started. The game gives advantage to defenders.
DarkLord1981
tactics? yeh right, this game has no tactics at all, the AI totally counters you everytime, no matter what you attack with, they counter it everytime.
Orao
Hehe, Don't generlize your case. I'm playing campaign on normal and so far I had no problem at all owning the AI. Maybe it's you who sucks after all.

My friend will be dissapointed, but why buy a game if you don't enjoy it?
Guest DarthMaulUK
Get the game you will love it. There isnt indepth strategy like Rome Total War for example but you do need to plan your attacks and to ensure that you have counter attacks. As the Rebels, for example you can send in small raid parties to knock out a defence maybe or an at-at. Theres most certainly alot of fun to be had here but if you are looking for a game that is pure strategy, then this isnt the one for you. But if you're a Star Wars fan, like RTS games - its a MUST purchase! DMUK
