jaredhimself31
I need advice on which programs work best for 3D moddling(i.e. robes or lightsabers), I have tried some of the programs that the site suggests and I cant make any sense out of it in terms of actually using the programs they just dont seem to work. Advice would definitly be apreciated!
FreddyFroglok
My advice - use tutorials. Use the tutorials that come with the programs. Then read some of the tutorials suggested in these forums for the programs. Then read the tutorial threads for that program in modelling forums, such as CGTalk. 3d modelling is not as intuitive as it used to be back in the days when all you could do was vertex manipulation. dede_frost
I'm a noob to mooding and modeling (started about a month ago), and I found got Gmax with the NWmax plugin, and I found it very ez once I got going. I don't manipulate the vertx much, only when I'm making thing like exposed crystals, etc; I think you will find it eazier to use the Blevel and extrude functions, and mabie add some new squares and stuff for swiches, etc. If you really want to know more search for T7nowhere's A-Z of lightsaber modeling, it really gives you the basics to get you up and running for any new saber models you want to make. Mono_Giganto
Well, we suggest the ones we suggest for a reason.... It's because they're the best suited for KotOR. Grab Gmax, and check some tutorials.
Darth InSidious
Hasn't gmax been cancelled? If so, get the 3dsmax demo.
Mono_Giganto
Official support for Gmax has been cancelled, but you can still downlaod it at TurboSquid if I recall.
