WWIIOL or SW Galaxies

Recommended Posts

In the not too distant future, there will be two new massively multiplayer games coming out, each with immense appeal.

World War II Online is the first game of it's kind: fighting an actual war online in real time (the Nazi invasion of France in 1940).

Assuming you could afford to play one of the games (or run for that matter), which would you?

I pick WWIIOL, despite the appeal that Galaxies has.

in a related note, I'm looking for someone to be my gunner in WWIIOL. I'm planning on being a Junkers 87 pilot and this pilot of the Fatherland is in need of a gunner to protect him from the marauding Spitfires as he dives down to destroy Allied tanks for the further glory of the Reich. (There's no US forces in the game. It's British, French, and Nazis. British? They sucked at that point in the war. French? no thanks. That leaves the Germans (which is also the closest to my ethic background)).

I think I'll stick to PLanetarion, Star Kingdoms, and Empire Quest for now. I may add SW Galaxies when it comes out depending on its reviews. biggrin.gif

The problem with WWII is that EVERYONE will want to be in either the Lufwaffe or Panzer corps.

I am going to pick WWII Online, just because I love history. However, I'm not going to buy it right away. I'll wait and see if enough people will play it and if all of the bugs are worked out first. Plus, I don't know how it will run on a 56K modem without a ton of lag. Also, I'd want to wait for the American part of the game. Pacific fleet, here I come!

I have reserved my copy of WWIIOL.

excellent. plus my dad is so interested in the CONCEPT that he's going to put up the money for the video card i'll need to run it.

also, I think quite a few will be British. Lots of people will have a problem with even representing the Nazis in a mere game plus several people i've spoken with have a desire to fly a Spitfire. No one will be French. poor French.

WWIIOL:

A Ju87? Uhh no thanks. This is would be ok in france but

it is a sitting duck during the battle of britain. I would play for

the russian or german side in WWIIOL as a fighter pilot or

tank commander.

Galaxies:

I will only get galaxies if PvP is an important part of the game.

None...

Online games demand a considerable ammount of time and I'm afraid that I don't have any to spare...

plus the fact that our I-connections are still below par...

Actually, history got written a bit wrong. The Stuka actually performed pretty good over Britian and many were destroyed by the few Polish fighters that managed to get off the ground in 1939.

So the battle were the Stuka was supposed to rule, it didn't and the battle were it was supposed to have been garbage it did better. It was something about how much fuel was in them or something. I'll find the site again.

anyhow, this is the Germans crossing the Maginot line...I just have to pick off turrets and stuff biggrin.gif

Poor frenchs?, come on Nute, in your Stuka you are a easy target, at least a poor pilot flying a D.520 with four machine guns can easily take you down. And a gunner can´t help you very well. Stuka are impressive but instead of it I preffer a BF-109E in Jabo role.

the germans went around the Maginot line, not through it. biggrin.gif so you'll be flying in circles

A glorius pilot?

...

Well, no matter how good are you, you are flying a Stuka. Imagine Darth Vader flying a Tug, he probably can be shot down in seconds.

You will not be to close the french, I remember in many games with the posibility of fly a Stuka that I have a lot of time to get the needed alltitude to operate it and then I have to be just over the target in order to bomb it, if the D.520 don´t destroy you, the AA will.

Well I have to go, I will continue on a more cheap cybercafe biggrin.gif.

I disagree Zaarin, History has proven many times that he who forgets history is destined to repeat it. So not to repeat the Horrors of WWII we must remember, what happened. This is just another Medium of it.

And it should be fun aswell.
