Lightsaber problems

Sorry for another thread on lightsabers. Every time I cheat to get my lightsaber it doesn't have my crystal in it. It shows a grenade insted of my texture (it is default red but renamed). I can cheat to get my crystal but every time I go to the upgrade bench it dissapears.

Your issue sounds like you do not have an upcrystals.2da entry for your saber, the grenade is there because you will need to add a line to upcrystals.2da.

 

Think of the color crystal as the 'key' that unlocks your saber in the game, and the upcrystals.2da file denotes what color crystal will unlock what saber. ;)

 

To have a complete saber (w/ custom skins, etc.) that you can change the color crystal out and into, you will need the following files...

 

color_crystal.uti

color_crystal_invantory_icon.tga

saber_blade.tga

saber_blade.txi

saber_model.mdl

saber_model.mdx

saber_model.tga

saber_model.txi

saber.uti

saber_invantory_icon.tga

upcrystals.2da

No, you get a null grenade when the uti files are incorrect or missing, or there isn't an entry in upcrystals.2da for the saber. Also check your spelling in upcrystals.2da, be sure the refrences are the exact same match to your uti filenames, 'mospellings' are a common mistake. ;)

 

You likely won't need an invantory icon texture for your crystal if you are simply using a renamed game one. Remember the example I gave is for one with all unique textures and colors. If you are re-using stock game sabers then you won't need all those different files.
