Is it possible to say take an item like g_w_lghtsbr01 or g_a_mstrrobe01 and create an exact clone and rename this new item g_w_lghtsbr07 and g_a_mstrrobe08 (since 01-06 exist already for lghtsbr and 01-08 for mstrrobe). Would you only have to edit or rename the .uti .tga .tpc .mdl and .mdx files or is there more to it.

If you want the model and textures (the skin and icon file) to stay the same then copy the uti file, rename it to the new name (eg g_w_lghtsbr07.uti) then open it with kotor tool or the gff editor and change all references to the old name (g_w_lghtsbr01 if oyu copied the o1 uti fie) and rename them to g_w_lghtsbr07 (no uti bit on the end).

This will give you a straight copy of the original file. You can then change the properties to suit yourself if you want to.

Does this help?

Jackel your suggestion is correct but only clarify's part of my current problem. What I am trying to do is take the blue from lghtsbr01 and the hilt from lghtsbr06 to create new saber with malak's hilt and blue blade (lghtsbr07). Thus far I have this model but I can only override the existing lghtsbr01 model so all blue single sabers look like this new one. What I want is to make this new saber a seperate unique item.

Okay I was able to spawn it with a cheat. The only thing that remains is that the icon hilt for the saber is the single blue blade (lghtsbr01) and not the malak saber (lghtsbr06). This is strange because I used and renamed the iw_lghtsbr006.tga icon file which is the icon file for Malak's saber. I think it has something to do with the programming within the mdl file because i used a hex editor to change it from the default red to blu. Thing is I can't see a way around it because i need the blu command to display the blue blade.

The icon file is a single layer tga file. If oyu want it to have a blue background so that it is the same colour as oyur saber blade then you will need to modify the icon file to look blue rather then red. Load it up in your favourite image program (paintshop, photsop etc) and change the red areas to blue. This should fix the icon file.

No the problem is that the new saber model shows up with the single blade blue background, what I want is to get it like the malak saber icon which has no colour background, its just the regular saber.

Nice okay I got the model. One question though Malak's saber is not upgradeable (you cant change colour crystals and upgrade crystals), it appears that this new saber shares the same properties. it shows up on the workbench (due to the lghtsbr01) but when when you click to upgrade it just disappears. Know how to fix this?

It did not do anything. I can get the new saber to be like Malak's (where the upgrade option is not possible by deleting all upgrade options) but when all upgrades are enabled (I copy from 01 to 07) the new saber does nothing when clicked at the workbench and then just disappears.

It's strange cause when I gave the lghtsbr01 properties to the lghtsbr06 (Malaks's saber which previously had nothing) the exact same thing happens. The Sith Lightsaber on Korriban is like this as well.

It might be some root programming in the .mdl files.
