Help with gmax

for some reason I cant download the tutorials for gmax so I would like to ask some one for help. I'm trying to make my own lightsaber, what are the basic steps to make a transparent cylinder?

That's a pretty good and very basic lightsaber tutorial. It's designed for Jedi Academy so parts of it will be useless to you, but for the most part parts 1 through 7 should be pretty helpful in setting things up in gmax.
