Dartz Nox
It may sound dumb for a topic, but how do you change the color crystal of a lightsaber that you cannot mod?

Dartz Nox
I mean through a mod. like change Malak's short lightsaber from yellow to something different.
EnderWiggin
Unless, of course, you change the mod. Which lightsaber are you referring to? I presume this is a mod? By whom? Is the saber a custom color, or just a set color like blue or green? If you can tell me this, I could help you to change the color. _EW_ EDIT: Figures that you would post when I do. Is Malak's short saber a mod or an ingame saber? I forget.
Dartz Nox
Its an ingame saber
EnderWiggin
Ok... and it's not upgradable? It is Malak's Short Lightsaber, and it's yellow? Which game is this? K1? Do you remember whether it is a random or placeable item or if it is a merchant item? What color do you want it to be? And do you want me to tell you how to change it? Or do it and send it to you? _EW_

EnderWiggin
Ok, the question is, where is this? Anyone have any info? I don't see it in the *.Rims - 711KOR. I don't see it as a droppable from Revan_fake's *.utc. I don't see it when I search in KT for 'Malak.' I don't see anything at all that has to do with Malak in the Item templates. I've also never received this item in my 5 times playing this part of the game. ? _EW_
Dartz Nox
Hmm that's odd. I've gotten it once beofre (though it was on my Xbox version) How about Freedon Nadd's Offhand Lightsaber then?
EnderWiggin
Ok. I can do that. Do you want to make it a new item, or just change the existing one so it will always be that color? Also, pick a number from 3-9. _EW_

EnderWiggin
Ok, here's how you do it. Open up "w_sls_x02.uti" in KT (That's Nadd's...) Check the model variation. It is 6. Change it to any number 12 or over to make sure. Save it as the same thing (w_sls_x02) and then go ahead and put it in override. Go to "w_shortsbr_006.mdl" in the models BIF, Aurora Model and extract it. Open up "w_shortsbr_006.mdl" in a hex editor. Hit the Find button and search for "lsabre". You should get 4 different instances of "lsabregold01" Change all four instances, very carefully, to "lsabregren01" or another color. The colors are listed here: "blue" - Blue "Dgrn" - Viridian, I believe "gold" - Bronze, but we just changed it from this. "gren" - Green "purp" - Purple "red" - Red "Silv" - Silver "turq" - Turquoise "yelo" - Yellow Then save that as "w_shortsbr_012.mdl" or whatever your number over eleven was. Place that in override. Congrats! Your Freedon Nadd's Short Saber is now a different color! _EW_ PS. I've tested this, right now, and it works, so if you have any problems please ask. EnderWiggin
To change the icon to a different color, to match, go to ERFs -> TexturePacks -> swpc_tex_gui.erf -> I -> "iw_shortsbr_006.tpc" and extract it as a *tga. Now open it in an image editor such as Photoshop CS2, PSP, or GIMP. Change the opacity to the paintbrush tool to 70 or so, and paint that little background circle the new color. Save it as "iw_shortsbr_012.tga" or whatever your number was. Place that in override. Hope this helped! _EW_

EnderWiggin
Where do you find w_sls_x02.uti? BIFs -> Templates.bif -> Blueprint, Item It is the last item in the item list. _EW_
Darth_Robinson
Why save an existing model as a new file? Just set the model variation to whichever one you want (i.e. a blue saber would be 1, a red saber would be 2, etc.) It's kind of redundant to have two model variations for the same model. EnderWiggin
There was a reason why he couldn't... at least, I thought so last night... I just can't remember what it was.. Whoops. I think I gave a hard answer for an easy question. _EW_
