Nitro
I was really tired on Saturday night, and decided, in a fit of inspiration, to write a poem... 20 minutes later I came up with this. A Soldier's Poem I watched the clouds float past the moon, Heard the crickets chirp with glee, As Nature sang her night-time tune, Like She's showing off for me. I've seen the wolf, the deer, the fox, They all come out at night, Together we take midnight walks, Opposers of the light. I dread the glow of dawn because, The sunrise will soon follow, And all of my dear woodland friends, Go to hide in their hollows. To sleep and rest 'til sun is set, When we shall meet again, For day has payed her daily debt, And once more night will reign. Sometimes I sit and wonder why, When I gaze at the night sky, How life can be so very bright, When all else is so dark at night.
Tierce
That was great Nitro!. Here's one of mine.. Life Darkness to light, Peaceful, unknowing eyes. New to the world, New to life. Unwavering potential, Steps first walked. Love’s first talk, Love’s first victim. Path’s forged, Destiny chosen. Pleasures gorged, Memories frozen, In the depth’s of the mind. Light into darkness, Shadows sweeping over light, Air damp and stark Murmured death rights, Amongst the tears Peaceful serenity, Vanishing of fears. Glowing Trinity, Immortal by human years. Life ending, Body returning to the earth. Spirit transcending, Returning to home before birth. ------------------ "While the word is yet unspoken, you are master of it; when once it is spoken, it is master of you." Jem
RhymeZone makes it so easy to create poetry. First time I tested it I made something decent in a bit less than 10 minutes. EDIT: Nice work BTW [This message has been edited by Jem (edited October 17, 2001).]
Guest Zoom Rabbit
I liked Assassin's poem! Here is one of my own, titled ZR's God and Self Sutra. Note how I refuse to rhyme or follow any meter that doesn't arise naturally from the subject matter... Thus have I heard: The self, o Lord, is so small I am my own self As a blade of grass in the meadow Unique and distinct from every other My personality may change, my body may follow, But it will still be I Constant, about which all change revolves From my point of view, I am the only thing that is still That is my self O lord, You are said to be the self of the universe Not a blade of grass or even the meadow, but the essence of grass When the universe is in motion, You are the only thing that is still Is that Your self? At the balanced center of being behind all existance, how is Your self like mine? They cannot compare! Yeah, the ocean is wet, and so is the drop of water... But one will drown the other O lord, my self is nothing A staggering shadow on a flickering stage I am but a being for whom existing is all that I am Your self is eternally transcendant and one with the universe As thread is one with cloth But wait! You are the stillness about which revolves Your universe...as am I the center of mine Both still, both perceiving their being...one can see that it is the other after all Water returns to ocean, and all is wet Om! Flying Beastie
*enters with coat billowing dramatically* Heartbeats '99,5,28 We live and die with each heartbeat. We live in spurts, our bodies barely capable of sustaining ourselves. We exist on the razor's edge. Each heartbeat brings pure life. In the space between heartbeats, we are as walking death. Only for a moment, then it starts again. Life. Death. Life. Death. Life. Death. It is in the space between heartbeats that the things unexplainable by science exist. Between heartbeats, there is Magic. We are the duality. We are also the duel. ------------------ From the Quest 2000,8,15 One shall stand, brazen and bold. Clad in myth, and legend of old. As once was, and nevermore, even in peace, to find a war. Knight and Dragon, Wizard and Witch. As youth grows old, they both will switch. Time may turn all friends to foes, and villains cast as true heroes. Alliance, deceit as blood is spilt, upon this rock, a kingdom built. As spires rise, among stalwart walls, shadows fall with silent calls Knights no longer clad in steel, but, as always, the magic's real. *turns and sweeps out majestically* There's more where these came from. ------------------ "Don't f_ck with the Jedi Master, son." --Mark Hamill
