boussh
Just bought a saitek Cyborg 3D Gold USB joystick for i-Mac. Works great with Starfleet Academy but not recognised at all by X-Wing. V. frustrating.. Any thought greatly appreciated!
edlib
Hmmm... I didn't even know you could play X-Wing on a Mac. PC emulator mode perhaps? I'm sorry, but I'd have no clue how to solve this. Anyway, try moving this to the 'Tech Center' forum, I'm sure you'll get a quicker and more in depth response there. That's where the hardcore techies hang. Good luck. Keyan Farlander
X-Wing is not compatible with USB control devices. That's straight from the Lucasarts website. Sorry
boussh
To Edlib: Playing both 'Original X-Wing' and 'Rebel Assault: The Hidden Empire' on stright forward mac OS, NOT PC emulator. Bought both about 3 years ago as collectors edition special pack. Dont know if its still available anywhere though! Thanks for the reply though. boussh
To Keyan Farlander: Downloaded $20 Shareware called USBOverdrive (see www.usboverdrive.com) that has solved it. Allows you to build specific drivers for USB joysticks and gamepads for older games that dont recognise USB devices. Tell that to LucasArts !!!!!!!!! I'm back in business. thanks for the reply though!
RobHoth
I'm using that exact joystick on X Wing Alliance on the PC with no problems at all. I haven't tried it on either the original X Wing or TIE fighter, though...
edlib
Glad to hear you got it working. I'll keep your solution in mind if I ever encounter this problem again. Now let's see,... I have an iMac at work... Heh heh heh...

Keyan Farlander
That's a nice utility. I'd love to tell Lucasarts about it, but their policy is not to listen to anyone for any reason
RobHoth
I've just tried to play the original X Wing on PC with that Saitek Cyborg 3D Gold USB joystick, and it was OK, apart from the fact that the throttle button wouldn't work, and the 'twist' function wouldn't work. Never mind. ------------------ That Farrow bloke you executed today, are you sure he's dead? Well, I chopped his head off, that usually does the trick. Keyan Farlander
I'm pretty sure those functions aren't supported by X-Wing, regardless of what joystick you are using. I know for a fact the twist stick is not.
