need help from an experianced modder

I have 2 problems:

 

1) how can i create my own buildings for maps i make (as opposed to reusing old ones from the shipped worlds) and what program do i need to do this?

 

2) Where are the wepon files located in the sides folder?

im not sure about the first question but i think the answer to the second is data_ABC\sides\common\odf

buildings like all units, weapons and vehicles are models and are made with Softimage|XSI.
