MonkeyFan
I THINK 2D MONKEY ISLAND5 IS MUCH BETTER THAN A 3D GAME! IF YOU WANT 2D WITH MOUSE! VOTE HERE!!!
AFish01
I want to see Monkey island back in 2D, you can go everywhere on the screen whereas in mi4 you turn round when you reached the edge of the area, if it was to stay in 3d it must allow to walk anywhere on the screen. Oh yeah but I did like the way you could run in mi4 so in 2D you may lose that, but I want 2d back, the style of mi and mi2 would be okay, but tweak the graphics up. Dainty Gentleman
Yeah, man. In the 2d games there were ALOT more places you couldn't go.. Besides I like the 3d style.
Ozzie
Come on people! MI is much much better in 3D! We are living in the year 2001, so 2D would be a laugher! MI5 MUST stay in 3D, the layout in 3d is much much better then in 2D! ------------------ I want to be a pirate!
Low-moral-fiber
Probably the only complaints I had about Monkey Island 4 graphically were -low poly-count characters (which can be fixed) -low-rez textures (which can be fixed) -pre-rendered and real-time shadows didn't blend at all (it should be able to be fixed) -some clipping Really, that was about it. Summerhush
I must admit, I think that in most cases, 3D animation in computer games is highly overrated. I would not complain if MI5 was 2D. However, the part of MI4 that proved the most difficult for me to adjust to was not the 3D, but the total lack of mouse control. I was able to more or less get used to using keyboard only, but I did prefer the mouse control of MI3.
AFish01
There is no way that MI5 would be made in 2D Lucasarts have a massive audience in the US now and by changing it backl to 2d they might loose that audience so 3D is here to stay whether you like it or not. Personally I loved the scumm engine games they were much better than the grime engine which was used for EfMI
kobrakai
i would love MI5 to be 2d. It will never happen though cause people care too much about 3D graphics. damn!

CRAZYG0D
I would like it monkey island 3 type with the blend of 3d graphics and 2d cartoon animations....personally i think 2d is funnier then 3d and i am 15 years old so i am still with the young generation........I guess the creator want to make games in 3d because of coolgraphics and keeping up with technology....3d is good in shot em ups and other stuff like that but not in adventure games like MI
PinkPig
I think a 3D engine will be the best for MI5, but it will need to be tweaked, to make it easier to find items. Also stop a rather stupid thing that just stops you walking some ways for (apparently) no reason.

haffster
I think it would be cool if they left it in 3D but kind of gave it a 2D look to it. It would give it a newage retro look.
InfinitySquared
I for one, do not want to go back to pixelized softwared 2D graphics. 3D can be used in an adventure games. Lucasarts is new to this. Actually I can only think of a couple of 3D adventure games off the top of my head. So cut them some slack. Think of them as pioneers... ------------------
donna
I wouldn't care if it were 3D or 2D but please give me back my mouse control. In EMI I seem to spend so much time fiddling about with directional keys with Guybrush running in completely the wrong direction. I think the whole game is slowed up by the fact that Guybrush has to walk right up to objects before you can find out whether he can interact with them. In CMI you could move the cursor around the room and know this in advance.
StarEye
Make it like The Longest Journey... perfect example of successful use of 3D with a mouse. But of course, 2D works too... only not in 2003 (when MI5 will be out?). How many newcomers would buy MI5 if it had outdated graphics?

two
Any of y'all played Jet Grind Radio for the Dreamcast? Cel-shaded 3D is the answer. Not only would it give the characters the nice cartoony 2D look, while allowing for the smooth motion of 3D animation and 3D gameplay mechanics, but I hear it makes rendering faster (good for lower-end machines). And yes, mouse control would be great. It could be easily done in 3D. A fully 2D SCUMM game is just not gonna happen in this day and age.
