The Demonic Skull Posted November 22, 2001 Share Posted November 22, 2001 The game HAS to be in 3D to appeal to non-monkey fans of casual gamers. if you never even saw monkey island before and picked up MI5 from the shelf and saw it was 2D the saw another adventure game for the same price in 3D which one would WOO you the most? LucasArts should not follow the others, the others should follow LucasArts. Listen... Monkey Island is originally point&click based... And point&click fit into 2D... SO 2D it is!!!! It is the same with Kings Quest 7 if anyone has ever played that. But too many people think that turning Monkey island into 3D is making the game to different from the originals. But 3D only makes the game even better. Think about it... it makes all the envirements richer in detail and gives you more of a feeling that you could get into the game. I will buy the game regardless of 2D or 3D but I like the point and click 2D style probably the best. One thing people should realize about adventure games is that graphics are not that important. What makes adventure games so enjoyable is the plot, story, characters and settings. Why do you think adventure games made in the late 80's are still enjoyble to play today because of the gret stories. I know I'd much rather play Maniac Mansion or Loom or Secret of Monkey Island over almost all new games today. Another thing LucasArts should not be about following the trends and doing what's popular. They should make games for those who really care about their games not just to make the most money. Perfume Pusher Posted December 8, 2001 Share Posted December 8, 2001 I agree with the general idea, the gameplay has been lost with 3D, but I think it would be solved by keeping it in 3D but using the point and click interface. The gameplay has not been lost through the graphics, but by the change of the movement interface. But I think the most suitable graphics are still the pixilated 1991 stuff. Hmmm.... why don't we just only have 10 characters in the game to! 3D is the way to go. Sorry about being sarcastic on my first post but this is an outrage.
