Recovering from the Dantooine Pazaak + Yavin 4 bug

Until yesterday, I was playing the 1.00 version of the game. I played all of the Pazaak games on Dantooine before going to Yavin 4 for the first time. This causes a classic bug where there's a black screen and the rodian says something about him losing to me in a Pazaak game. I patched the game at that point, but I'm still having the same issue when I load a saved game.

 

All of my recent saves are from after beating Dantooine Pazaak. Is there some way that I can maybe fix the bug in my save game file?

First, congrats on your first post since registering back in 2004.

 

Second, I've never heard of this bug and have never played KotOR using v1.0. I've always played on v1.03. When this condition occurs does it make you unable to continue play?

Yeah. After the dialogue closes, you can't do anything except press Esc and get back to the menu. I just thought of transitting back to the Ebon Hawk. Maybe that'll kick everything back to normal.

 

Anyhow, I guess this is a good time to try out the game without Yavin 4. I just figure there's probably one variable that's off, is all.

Hmmm... I looked up the fixes included in KotOR's v1.03 patch and found what you are talking about.

Fixed an issue with Dantooine Pazaak occasionally breaking Suvam Tan on Yavin.

I'm no expert at tweaking game settings but it looks like there are one Boolean variable and one Numeric variable for this.

Boolean is DAN_SOL_DONE

Numeric is DAN_SOLAA_NUM

 

You might try using KSE to see about changing these in your game. I guess try changing DAN_SOL_DONE to 0 (no), committing those changes, then reloading that savegame and seeing if that helps with your Suvam Tan problem. Forum members that would have a much better idea about this kind of stuff though are Darth333, RedHawke, and stoffe -mkb- although I'm sure there are more than just these.
