jhsveli
Hi I would like nothing more than to be able to play TSL on my shiny new laptop. I'm pretty sure the graphics meets the minimum specs. SWinfo: Video Card Name=Mobile Intel® 945GM Express Chipset Family Video Memory=256 Desktop Resolution=1440x900x32 @ 60Hz DirectX=DirectX 9.0c (4.09.00.0904) OpenGL Version=1.4.0 - Build 4.14.10.4446 OpenGL Vendor=Intel OpenGL Renderer=Intel 945GM Vid Card Status=Warning Vid Card Driver Status=Pass GL Status=Pass DX Status=Pass I've tried all solutions found by browsing the stickies, to no avail. The game crashes when starting game or loading a save game made after start on a different pc. The game loads the scene, and sound is started, but stops with a black screen. I believe some graphics component is bugging... Help will be immensely appreciated! Jørgen
Char Ell
Welcome to LucasForums, jhsveli! My first thought is that your laptop is using Intel graphics. As far as I know the game only mentions support for ATI and NVIDIA graphics cards. The following is from the official TSL website: Graphics Card: 32 MB OpenGL 1.4 compliant AGP or PCX 3D Graphics card with Hardware Transform and Lighting (T&L) Capability required. ATI Radeon 9200 or NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti or better recommended. I found the specs for your laptop's video on Intel's website http://www.intel.com/products/chipsets/gma950/index.htm After looking at Intel's website I think you have an insurmountable problem in that your Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 supports software transform and lighting while the game requires hardware transform and lighting. Unfortunately it seems that integrated graphics solutions like the one used on your Dell Latitude D620 often can't handle graphics intensive games like TSL. jhsveli
Graphics Card: 32 MB OpenGL 1.4 compatible PCI or AGP 3D Hardware Accelerator with Hardware Transform and Lighting (T&L) Capability required This I just snipped from swkotor.com, the reqs for swkotor, which runs fine on my machine. This is the reason I am hesitant to give up, i havetwo distinct games with similar or equal reqs where one runs and one doesn't EDIT: Found this in the 1.0b patch info text: * Added support for the Intel i915 chipset I was hoping this meant that it would run on my pc as well, my graphics chipset being in the same series as the one mentioned now supported. But maybe they are too different, and I'll never be able to run. I guess some dev must have the last word on this...
Azrael Dragon
This might be the same problem I have. Though my computer has NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600 video card it also has the Mobile Intel® 945PM Express Chipset(I am no computer expert but it is there and if I remember correctly it helps some things work together). I have installed the newest driver but it does not change. I think the problem is in the chipset. oh and if you want to look at my computer it name is: Toshiba Satellite P100 - 113 Only sold in europe! DarthGiganticus
I am running KOTOR and TSL on a Dell Inspiron 6400 with Intel 945GM without any problem. The graphics chipset does Hardware T&L in software using your CPU. Since you will be having a beefy CPU(dual core?) there won't be any problem. I can run the games with the high detail texture pack. Disable shadows and grass. In the advanced options experiment with anisotropy. KOTOR works with 2X anisotropy while TSL crashes if anisotropy is set. I am playing at 800x600. 1024x768 seems to slow down at big battles.
